To really step my game up in my submission grappling and jiu jitsu I def. need to increase my groin flexibilty. All the best have extremely flexible groins, but I am having trouble finding a good exercise besides a butterfly stretch. Any links to websites or descriptions of a good stretch would be great!

I'm sorry, I'm not going to be much help. However, what did your trainer suggest? I would consult with him or others in your gym first, as they have most likely run into similar troubles at some point.

for my jeet kune do workout i do butterfly stretches, deep lunges going both directions (but without using my arms to brace myself), and the splits (well almost) and work on leaning back, and turning from one direction to the other. thats all i can think of that would loosen that area.

There's a yoga stretch I love for opening the hips (Pavanamuktasana, or Wind Releasing Pose...although I think the actual name might be wrong) - lie on your back and bring one knee to your chest; lace fingers together and pull down, out and then up towards your armpit. Keep your hips on the ground, shoulder blades on the ground, and try to keep the other calf on the ground (you might have to flex to help facilitate this). It's called wind releasing pose for a reason - it's working your ascending and descending colon, so a little gas might get released.

Leaning back while on your knees like you woudl strecth your quad? or standing? I just feel liek I stretch 4-5 days a week before and after my jiu jitsu training and I have been doing this now for a month and my side split is still terrible in my opinion. Its frustrating.

Do the side splits more often. Also, a gymnast stretching program I was doing focuses on trying to get your face to your feet in the butterfly stretch. It also focused on pushing yourself while in the lunge stretching position. And actually doing the side splits and letting your weight push you down a bit will help in itself. On top of that you could do the side splits with another person and you could pull each other.

Partner stretching is very effective, but you'd better communicate well, or someone can get injured.

The stretch that help me the most to get a full American/side split years back, was the hurdle stretch

Sit on the floor with legs straightened. Splay them to the sides as far as you can and lean forward. This is basically an easier side split.
