I've mentioned this before, but there needs to be a federal level agency or department that is tasked to investigate police abuse. If the police are committing crimes against citizens or abusing them, they are violating your civil rights which should be handled federally.

The FBI does these types of investigations. Other independent agencies, like the ACLU, can investigate actions in a federal manner by filing lawsuits and placing the government agency (state or local) in the hot seat of court.

If you don't see the FBI/whatever getting involved in something like a single cop getting outed for lying...it's probably because it's not a situation that merits federal investigation.

Contrary to the sky is falling attititude that a few people here have....internal investigations done by depts. are often extremely satisfactory when it comes to police misconduct. Typically the appropriate punishment is dealt...AND the victim still gets to sue the shit out of deep pockets. Herego the popular video statement "YOU GONNA GET PAID"

Instead of sitting here crying, or pleading, for the opportunity to murder people, how about start organizing some type of legal action?

Sad thing is she can only sue for up to 250k, even though her bills could push over a million.

Oh and he is also filing for disability yet had no major injuries in the accident.

"Deputy Quiles has not worked in more than a year since the crash. He has exhausted his injury pay and has now filed for permanent duty disability for injuries he suffered in the crash he caused. His application is still pending before the County’s Employee Retirement System.
All of this is happening, despite the fact that reports written at the time of the crash indicate Deputy Quiles suffered only minor injuries and was “treated and released” at Froedtert Hospital."

I do highly recommend creating a meta thread of cop abuse. Can update the title, the OP, and bump it with new cases. Though if you don't pace these stories out, I'm afraid you won't see much of a response.

We had a similar situation in Chattanooga a few years back. Cop was running through downtown at roughly a hundred miles an hour, heading toward a call to which he was not dispatched, ran a light and T-boned a small car with two young ladies who were local college students. Killed them both.

Up here in Canada the Durham Regional Police were ranked last in Ontario by an independant Ombudsman. Last in honesty, integrity. 1st in corruption, coverups, lawbreaking.

I read a number of news reports about things in Canada seemingly similar to the US in problems with police going over the line. But I do agree with your statement. I do think that more training needs to be done, they definitely need to start putting camera's on every single cop and on their cars and start fining the crap out of them if they tamper with the video, or its sound. The next step would be to start charging these officers, not just give them paid time off.
