Sorry other project, I couldn't take it any longer. I have to go back. I am about to be passed. Please understand. I want to get to 20th place before I am passed.

Oooo, you got it bad! You gotta at least give them a pat on the head/bottom. :)

Fear of installing new programs/updates because you might have to reboot.

Not rebooting till the current WU is finished.

Fear of power/cable outages.

Limiting the amount of time you play games.

Getting the shakes because your running Prime95 to test your overclock and not running DC.

searching through the house for a "working" agp video card to temporarily replace the TI 4200 in the "kids" machine then finding an old TNT (1) card with 16 megs & thinking - Cool - now I can get seti running again while I wait for that RMA!!!! ;)

that was my life just yesterday - the fan quit on the Abit Siluro TI 4200 & even though it's out of warranty they will replace the card for $25.00 ;)

I found out the vid card had died when the computer froze & refused to reboot.
Process of elimination quickly brought me to the vid card - if I knew the Epox error codes better it would have been faster, it showed a "25". I found I got a different error when ram was removed so that wasn't it, then wiit vid card removed it was either a "25" or a "26" can't remember so that's what I guessed & then putting in the old TNT card it booted fine. Just reload the Nvidia driver & off to the crunching arena ;)

Your DC farm is used to heat a room. Or two.
You have evaluated the $/WU ratio of a new computer purchase.
You buy WUs on ebay...

Guilty on all counts.

You come to these forums to see how many of your friends have already posted, and if they had anything new to say. ;)

You keep running SETI on every computer you can find for your TeAm even though you haven't posted on the team's forums in well over a year. Then you come back to (semi) active posting on the forums to keep up on the status of the project when you find out that the TeAm is in a very tight race for at least the fourth or fifth time with the heathens from BBR. Only this time the race is 'for real' since the winner of this final race will be the permanent winner once the classic SETI project ends. :D

Yup, I was AWOL for about 16 months but never stopped running SETI on any computer I could get my hands on for long enough to install the client. With permission of course. ;)

Oh yeah, and you get mad at people you don't even talk to or see more than once a month because they turn their office computers off at night so they aren't crunching work units nearly as fast as they could be... :p

I honestly thought this was my idea...(kinda funny in retrospect, actually). It's not like I searched the forums either here or ArsTech to see if anybody had made a similar post, so accusing me of ripping it off is just incorrect. NTM that the last addition to that thread was 2 months ago which means it was dead and buried. BTW, I'm certainly not getting into a flame war with anybody - ever, much less here, so a response is not necessary.

ROFL @ Networkman's licence plate!! That rules!

BTW... you know you're addicted to DC when you reprogram your car's Sat Navigation to crunch WUs and go back to using the old paper Street Directory!

The only monthly payment I have larger than my electric bill is my house payment

You need to take precautions for routine electrical grid maintenence 2000 miles away.
How would that affect you? What does that do? Of course my computers have backup UPS with automatic line volatage control (furnace in this house killed two computers and a microwave).

You spent 20+ hours trying to overclock a Pentium 1 from 200 to 225 to increase your WU.
I would find it an interesting post on how you did that. I find most of the low end computers I find don't have much ability in the way of overclocking. Maybe its my newbish knowledge.

Your DC farm is used to heat a room. Or two.
That is a good thing from my perspective, but I live in a colder climate.
