Read my OP. I never mentioned obese people. I meant regular overweight people!

Too late. You have opened up a can of worms. :D

i'm pretty sure the worst thing a fatty can do is when they don't realize they're huge and enter your personal space with their...extra baggage.

enter situation:

airplane
bus
etc.

A thought.

That is a terrible argument for fat people.

If you have a slow metabolism then you should be able to eat less and be ok than a person who has a fast one.

Your title said "fat people", what is there to misunderstand?

So I guess life is indeed not fair then. If you're hit with the fat stick, you should just put down the bag of doritos all in the while I can eat four bags because my body can burn it without excercise. rofl.

It doesn't matter what your metabolic rate is... if you eat lots of unhealthy food, it's bad for you, period.

We were never talking about being unhealthy. I made the post inspired from how people make FUN of the fat people because they're unpleasant to look at. You don't ridicule them because you're concerned for their health. You do because they're fat and disgusting looking.

Personally, I don't ridicule them at all.

Homer Simpson: One for "Honk", please.
Movie Ticket Dealer: Oh. Gee, uh, just a minute. I have to check with the manager.
Ticket Dealer: [to manager, referring to Homer] That overweight guy wants to see the movie.
Manager: I'm terribly sorry, sir, but I'm afraid our facilities are not equipped to meet your needs.
Homer Simpson: What are you talking about?
Manager: What I'm saying, sir, is that a man of your carriage couldn't possibly fit in our seats.
Homer Simpson: I can sit in the aisle.
Manager: I'm afraid that would violate the fire code.
Bystander: Hey, Fatty! I've got a movie for ya: A Fridge Too Far!
[the rapidly-assembling crowd laughs]
Homer Simpson: Shame on all of you. Give me my dignity! I just came here tosee Honk If You're Horny in peace.
Manager: Sir, if you'd just quiet down, I'd be happy to treat you to a garbage bag full of popcorn.
Homer Simpson: This may surprise you, but you can't buy me off with food. I'm sick of all your stereotypes and cheap jokes! The overweight individuals in this country are just as smart and talented and hard working as everybody else. And they're going to make their voices heard! All they need is a leader.

And that's all I'm saying- it's not fair on paper that they have to excercise simply because their metabolism is slow which makes them fat. ALL IN THE WHILE I'M GUILTY OF THE EXACT SAME LAZINESS BUT DON'T GET RIDICULED SIMPLY BECAUSE MY BODY DOESN'T KEEP THE WEIGHT

What's wrong with ATOT lately? Am I not writing in English? ;)

I think fat people just don't know any better. Maybe they never liked exercise and don't know how much it helps to stay in shape.

My wife had 3 vertebrae in her back fused and has fibromyalgia. Moving for her is painful, and as a result she's had a lot of weight gain. We're trying to get her lap-band surgery, but I don't have a spare $20000 at the moment (we're only 1/4 the way there in savings).

So, yes there are lazy people out there, but some...like my wife...have severe medical conditions that can't be helped.

They don't have to exercise any more than you, they just have to eat less. Fat people simply eat more calories than their body needs.

So yeah, it's gonna be funny 10-15 years from now when some of you punks get fat and start reaping what you've sown.

That's exactly my point. Remember the fat kid you teased in school? I was scrawny as a fvck no matter how many conveyer belt of food I ate. It's not really fair to the fat kid to make fun of him when I ate more than him.

Just not fair, right?

To be fair, most skinny guys who claim they eat *everything in sight* actually find out that they eat very little (~2000 calories or so) when they actually plug it into a calculator like Fitday

I know guys who need to eat 5k+ calories per day to gain weight. It doesn't matter how fast your metabolism is, you can outeat it. The law of conservation of energy always applies.

The problem is you keep changing your argument. Your first statement indicates that "it's not fair" that people who gain weight eating unhealthy foods gain weight when you don't. Maybe it is slightly unfair, but the fact remains that both people are doing damage to their body in the long term. That's similar to saying that it's unfair that people with good skin can dunk their head in horse manure and still look good after showering when people with bad skin might break out afterwards.

Being ridiculed by other people is almost always unfair. How is this any different than any of the other 283 trillion ways in which people are ridiculed?

Meh OP talks about "slow metabolism" that is somewhat rare.

If you eat shit food and sit on your butt...even with fast metabolism you're fucked.

Yep, I exercise, eat healthy, 145 lb @ 6 ft and I hate fatass,

When I run and it's hard, I yell PHAT PHAT, FATASS FATASS FFATAASSS and it becomes easier to run.

I don't think your wife would fall into the ATOT frenzy.
I think fatty is a term for the lazy. Totally different scenario there.
Good luck with that. That sounds really painful.

It's a simple equation: Calories in (eating) vs calories out (exercise). If you run a calorie surplus, you WILL gain weight. Obese people can complain all they want about their metabolism, thyroid problems, and whatnot, but it all comes down to that extra bag of doritos.

Just not fair, right?

I was scrawny all my life and have had to deal with being made fun of also. It goes both ways.

FWIW though, life isn't fair, and expecting it to be is going to lead to disappointment.

It isn't unlucky, it is genes. Survival of the fittest used to mean the, well, most fit. With modern luxuries and medicine, however, fat people are breeding at uncanny rates and are polluting the gene pool with low metabolism genes and pituitary gland disorders.

Well actually, if you look at it that way, its the fatter people who were chosen by nature to survive. They can get by on less than those with a much higher metabolism.

Its just that today, cheap/high-calorie flood is very plentiful to even the lower classes (at least in industrialized nations). This wasn't the case back in "the day".

If you have a liver condition, are you gonna be out drinking every night? It's the same thing. If you have a slow metabolism, then you just shouldnt be eating as much as everyone else. Or if you are, then you should be exercising more.

Metabolism slow? Sure...DNA is a big part of it.

How many people out there, on average, eat out at least 2 days per week or eat TV dinners? When you think about eating one meal in a restaurant and consuming 1000+ calories or eating a HungryMan TV Dinner and slapping your arteries with 40+ grams of fat, you start to realize society in general is suffering because they're not making wise decisions in what they eat.

Healthy choices in restaurants aren't that healthy anymore... Your best bet is to cook food for yourself whenever possible and at least walk 30 minutes a day.

True, but it depends on what aspect of survival was more important. Endurance, agility, and intelligence for hunting or fat storage for famine resistance.

So because people with slow metabolisms are unlucky, they should just continue to cram food into their mouths at the fastest rate possible?

Yeah, they're going to have to work harder to stay at an acceptable weight. Boo hoo. I have to work harder to get a date than Brad Pitt, so guess what? I work harder. I don't sit around whining about it's unfair.

I don't understand why so many people take it personally that fat people are disliked. It's not rocket science. Being fat isn't like being ugly or being retarded or being crippled or whatever. There's a solution to being fat. It's not even a terribly complicated solution. STOP EATING SO MUCH. Problem solved.

(And yes, I'm ignoring people with medical conditions and whatnot that make being fat unavoidable. Those people are in the TINY minority.)

Sshhhhhh, fat people are going to save social security, let them eat.
