You know, it would help if there were actually some new GAMES to play with all this new hardware

Quake 4, Starcraft, Sid Meiers Pirates, Heroes of M&M 3 & 4 and Civ4 on my PC.

Didnt care for HL2, or BF2. Enjoyed both but meh. Only have Quake4 still on because I havent beat it yet.. but its good. I enjoyed Doom3 too, but it got monotonous. Q4 is worth buying, much better than D3 if you didnt like that one.

Soon Q4 will be joining the uninstalled heap with BF2 and HL2 for me though.. waiting for Quake Wars. Also will be moving from Heroes 3/4 soon to Heroes 5.

So theres my list for currently available games up top.. and upcoming ones QuakeWars and Heroes5.

I know. Unfortunatley. But thanfully i have never really thought that duke was ever going to bring anything monumental except for really a lot of fun.....so i can wait forever for that....

There are some games I would really gladley eat yellow snow for. S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Crysis. I can picture Crysis really requiering a lot of horesepower to play....
but i have pictures in my head of multiplayer (foliage moving, was it a pig or was it someone trying to get to your base?) Shooting because you think you saw something.
Predator comes to mind.......Infact, I hope they make an Alien V Predator 3 with the Crysis Engine. Imagine that (soldier says"what was that"...."probably just a monkey" then a big hole is blasted through the chest of one and the other starts shooting his midi gun cutting down the foliage to reveal.......................nothing but the tracks of a predator carrying its pray (the dead guy who he dident see dissapear from the floor))

I am hooked on stalker news at the moment........there is going to be a new video in a few days. I find myself so worked up about this game that i sometimes spend a long time just trying to find new things to do in the multiplayer Beta leaked.....on my own.

I wish that some games were re released in fancy packages. not upgraded!
I really really loved UFO/Xcom Enemy unknown. that would be a nice game to be able to play in something other than 320x240 res.

Yeah this is a very annoying problem!

I play NFS Most Wanted and a few other recent games, but I haven't found anything else worth playing... I got bored of HL2, CS:S, etc. a while ago (on my old 2.8C/9800 Pro rig) and now sometimes find myself playing ancient things like Halo PC (online mp) and Empire Earth (lan mp).

It's so sad - I spend almost $2k building a new rig, and friends with $400 Xbox 360's have a better selection of new games. That's just pathetic.

I liked the original Gal Civ a fair amount, and I'm definitely going to pick up 2 - Wardell's done a pretty good job, and the AI in Gal Civ 1 was as good as any I've seen in a 4x/

I want a new card mainly just to play my existing games at higher settings. There are a couple of big releases on the horizon though. It looks like this year will be a better one for games than 2005 was.
i RePlayed parts of Thief - DS and DE:IW . . . my 9800xt struggled with both of them [especially DEIW] to get minimal AA/AF . . . with my new x850xt i can crank both the res and the AA/AF - add the "texture packs" and it seems like a new game.

i would have kept playing . . . but then got KotOR II last week and am "hooked" . . . it'll take at least a month or two to finish it.

there is something to be said about a good RPG over [even] a [good] FPS.

btw, i have Sid Meier's [new] Pirates! . . . but it is hard to get "into" . . . i guess it is like the CIV series . . . "addicting"

I really have never played a rpg is this (KotOR II) a good one to start with? Have been playing fear, but must admit to getting a little bored. I can always go back to splinter cell - another game I sort of started. Anyways time for something different.

I generally away from RPG's, but absolutely loved KOTOR - one of my favorite games of all times. II made some leaps, but on the whole, there were awful cuts because Lucas Arts wanted it out by the Holiday season- and while the restoration project is working to put the stuff back in and give the game more plot, the first was still the better game. For me, the plot twist was genuinely stunning./

as i said it is more like watching a great book come to life rather than a movie . . .

and even though i saw it coming a mile away, the twist rivaled the "Luke, I am your Father" one.

i am deep into KotOR II and really like the 'improvements' . . . there is even more 'depth' if that is possible.

there are already some gameplay fixes beyond the official patch.

i expect after the complete restoration, it will be another replay

COD2 is the only recent game that pushed me to upgrade. I love the heck out of playing it online... usually team deathmatch.

I wish there were more good titles out lately. Been a bit of a dry stretch other than Q4 and COD2. UT2007 or whatever it's gonna be called would be nice.

Sorry to hijack this thread one more time. I got kotor have began..... I am enjoying it but am finding all those controls somewhat confusing. Is there some basic stuff I can find info on. Such as does it matter how quickly or how often I click the mouse when I want to stab or shoot some evil doer? As I said - I know nothing about this type of game. Took me 5 minutes to get into stealth mode. Must repeat I am (to my surprise) really liking this so far - mellow pace and all. :)

It is the doom3 engine. Doom3 engine can make a game look almost as good as FF movie. If youve noticed many models in quake4/doom3 arent hi ploy count (around 3000~ poly while unreal3 will be having over 10K ploy count models) hence it runs fine on most hardware. Prey will defitnately up the ante in gameplay though. The game looks wack, funky, lots of puzzles, a deep plot, amazing graphics, and wall walking !!

I should sell you my copy and the steam id I made to go with it. I just never got into that game after I got stuck about halfway thru. I never finished the original HL so I don't know why I expected anything different.

At least I can finish games from any company other than Valve. I shouldn't need to search out a "walk though" with my level of experience.

Not to mention that the whole "Steam Experience" and slow loading crap hasn't swayed me yet. Sorry, I like my games to fire up fast.

grab a KoTOR walkthrough . . . just look at the "FAQs and tips" . . . there are HUNDREDS of pages of "how tos".

UNlike a FPS, it is rather "open ended" how you do things ;)
[and if you just keep playing like i did, it'll take a few hours . . . you can't really do anything "wong" . . . ]

When the 68xx came out, there was quite a few eagerly awaited games which debut at around the same time - doom3/farcry/unreal04/riddick/HL2 etc which really caused a squeeze on availability. I think it the msrp prices for mainstream cards held for at least 6 months from the debut because of scarcity.
