CGA video, circa 1981, transmitted information to the monitor at twice the rate that your optic nerve can transmit information between your eyes and your brain. The optic nerve data rate is about 8.75Mbit/sec. Your brain makes up the rest of what you think you perceive by pulling info from memory and filling in the holes.
