CGA video, circa 1981, transmitted information to the monitor at twice the rate that your optic nerve can transmit information between your eyes and your brain. The optic nerve data rate is about 8.75Mbit/sec. Your brain makes up the rest of what you think you perceive by pulling info from memory and filling in the holes.

This is why you really should look twice before crossing the street.

I prefer CRT's for old school gaming because there is no input lag.

And my light guns won't work on anything else.

Do you mean to imply reality is not perception?

Damn good thing too... perceiving 100% of the "reality" going on constantly around us would instantly overwhelm the senses of us poor "limited" humans!

Also I continue to get a kick out of the level of ego required to believe our truly pathetic ability to perceive anything at all fully actually dictates physical reality.

What a sad little plane of existence that would be! ;)
*(ask G'Kar... we're all effectively just ants!)

I too am "terrified and reassured". :)
