Can someone explain this to me?
Saw it written on a sign held by someone in a trayvon protest/march.

Anyone forming part of that protest march clearly wasn't very bright, so I wouldn't worry much about trying to understand the idiocy.

Race should play absolutely no role in capitalism.
 
It's the progressive idea that blacks are genetically inferior to whites (and asians and hispanics, etc), and therefore any system based on freedom is racist because blacks will do worse than whites on an even playing field.
 
You can't have humans without racism, so you also can't have X without racism where X is created by humans.

Maybe the sign is saying we can not have captialism without exploiting certain social groups.

Up into the late 1800s, the US economy exploited slaves.

Up into the mid 1900s, the US economy exploited low class workers.

Current, we exploit cheap overseas labor.

Is exploitation a form of racism?

Do we make excuses why its ok for chinese workers to get paid so little? Did slave owners in the 1800s make excuses why its ok to own slaves?

I'm not progressive however you have to temper your level playing field from a similar starting point. Its a good argument that because of slavery and lack of civil rights until the 60s black peopel did not have an even starting point and affirmative action was to level that a bit.

We may be at a tiem where we are doign more harm that good with affirmative action.

But to argue they think they are genetically inferior is about as retarded as you can get.

I'm not making that argument, far from it. The fact that there are many black people in this country that refuse to be victims (i.e. liberals), as well as black people in every other 1st world country that do just fine puts the obvious lie to that notion. I was merely pointing out the logical consequence of the statement "you can't have captialism without racism" infers that black people are genetically inferior.

As for even starting point, that is baloney. Immigrants come to this country with absolutely nothing, often having been effective slaves themselves in their home countries and become highly prosperous. You can't blame a 75% illegitimacy rate on the fact that your great great great great grandfather was a slave.

Unfounded bullshit statement. You dont have to agree that affirmative action was to level the starting point, but thats exactly what it was for.

It applies to immigrants too not just black people.
