Actually, eugenics was a brainchild of the Original Progressive Movement. Remember Margaret Sanger, TJR, and Wilson?

There were those who wanted their enlightened version of government helping the poor and ignorant, well as they defined them at least.
Take up the White Man's burden--Send forth the best ye breed--Go bind your sons to exile To serve your captives' need; To wait in heavy harness, On fluttered folk and wild--Your new-caught, sullen peoples, Half-devil and half-child.

Take up the White Man's burden--In patience to abide, To veil the threat of terror And check the show of pride; By open speech and simple, An hundred times made plain To seek another's profit, And work another's gain.

Take up the White Man's burden--The savage wars of peace--Fill full the mouth of Famine And bid the sickness cease; And when your goal is nearest The end for others sought, Watch sloth and heathen Folly Bring all your hopes to nought.

Take up the White Man's burden--No tawdry rule of kings, But toil of serf and sweeper--The tale of common things. The ports ye shall not enter, The roads ye shall not tread, Go mark them with your living, And mark them with your dead.

Take up the White Man's burden--And reap his old reward: The blame of those ye better, The hate of those ye guard--The cry of hosts ye humour (Ah, slowly!) toward the light:--"Why brought he us from bondage, Our loved Egyptian night?"

Take up the White Man's burden--Ye dare not stoop to less--Nor call too loud on Freedom To cloke your weariness; By all ye cry or whisper, By all ye leave or do, The silent, sullen peoples Shall weigh your gods and you.

Take up the White Man's burden--Have done with childish days--The lightly proferred laurel, The easy, ungrudged praise. Comes now, to search your manhood Through all the thankless years Cold, edged with dear-bought wisdom, The judgment of your peers!

I'm not progressive however you have to temper your level playing field from a similar starting point. Its a good argument that because of slavery and lack of civil rights until the 60s black peopel did not have an even starting point and affirmative action was to level that a bit.

We may be at a tiem where we are doign more harm that good with affirmative action.

But to argue they think they are genetically inferior is about as retarded as you can get.
His point was that the proggies posit blacks (and other non-Asian minorities, and women) will always have to have special allowances and privileges. It's certainly an arguable point, but I see no sign of an end to affirmative action from the left after 50+ years. It's become a self-sustaining prophecy.

I'm inclined to point out that once European Communism collapsed and Chinese Communism enthusiastically embraced capitalism, the anti-capitalism crowd turned to other fronts to press its aims. One notable front is the environmental movement which is riddled with Marxists, but the affirmative action/anti-racism movement has more than its share as well - as witnessed by Van Jones, among others. It's easier to try to combine anti-capitalism with other, more popular movements than to sustain anti-capitalism on its own.

White-Racism in the past was so out in the open that black people were showcased in Zoo's in cities such as New York City [can you get anymore mainstream/accepted than that?].

Ota Benga
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ota_Benga

"At the suggestion of Bumpus, Verner took Benga to the Bronx Zoo in 1906. He was allowed to roam the grounds freely, and he became fond of an orangutan named Dohong, "the presiding genius of the Monkey House", who had been taught to perform tricks and imitate human behavior.[15] The events leading to his "exhibition" alongside Dohong were gradual:[4] Benga spent some of his time in the Monkey House exhibit, and the zoo encouraged him to hang his hammock there, and to shoot his bow and arrow at a target. On the first day of the exhibit, September 8, 1906, visitors found Benga in the Monkey House.[4] Soon, a sign on the exhibit read:

The African Pigmy, "Ota Benga."
Age, 23 years. Height, 4 feet 11 inches.
Weight, 103 pounds. Brought from the
Kasai River, Congo Free State, South Cen-
tral Africa, by Dr. Samuel P. Verner. Ex-
hibited each afternoon during September."

White-Racism is just subtle these days. We have folks such as Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and many many others who try to hide it but it eventually leaks out.

So the sign holders aren't advocating for more racism?
I thought their point was that, as a capitalist society, we need more of it.

I'm not making that argument, far from it. The fact that there are many black people in this country that refuse to be victims (i.e. liberals), as well as black people in every other 1st world country that do just fine puts the obvious lie to that notion. I was merely pointing out the logical consequence of the statement "you can't have captialism without racism" infers that black people are genetically inferior.

As for even starting point, that is baloney. Immigrants come to this country with absolutely nothing, often having been effective slaves themselves in their home countries and become highly prosperous. You can't blame a 75% illegitimacy rate on the fact that your great great great great grandfather was a slave.

That is not the logical consequence of that statement.

This explains a lot.

Definitely.

Can you provide us with a list of all the things you think Obama wants to do? If not a comprehensive list, at least the greatest hits?

I don't understand the stereotyping those on the left make. They cry and cry about stereotypes and racism but then claim that republican = racist . . ... um what that's kinda a broad brush to paint with.

Where did they say that all Republicans are racist? I saw a sign that basically said 'capitalism is racist', but that certainly isn't saying that Republicans are racist as the Democrats are a highly capitalistic party as well.

Also, I get the impression that you believe stereotyping people is a bad thing. Do you similarly condemn all of the 'liberals/progressives believe the following absurd thing' statements that people make?

You can't have capitalism without racism for the reason that capitalism is competition and competition is hate. Competition is trying to be better than somebody which means they are worse than you. Competition is based on comparison, the differences in one thing over another, the differences in comparative worth. If you are black compete and win in a capitalist society being black makes you better. And white folk who are in the majority aren't going to allow that. The only reason to compete is to win and the only reason to want to win is the feeling you aren't a winner, in other words self hate. People who love each other don't compete except with themselves to be better and helping others. That's what love does.

But don't feel worthless just because you are. You had to be. Feeling worthless makes us act that way but we had to and still do as long as we're asleep. You can't wake yourself from a dream, but understand that we love to be asleep.
