you can't get a Minivan with Power operated sliding doors, leather etc for less than 30k.

I've voiced my age several times. I'm 23, but mentally I'm much older. But in many ways, much younger.
Funny, If I remember correctly you were just 21 or 22 a couple weeks ago.
Will there ever be a time when you tell the truth?

it has DVD, onstar, powered passenger side door, and some other crap that we didnt need.

overall it is better then our 2000 windsuck that we had. gets good milage, snappy looking, plenty of room inside, and there is not a million of them on the road. plus saturn is really good with thier service.

we were thinking of getting the relay. i like how it looks but then started hearing some bad stuff about them.

but might take a new look once the 07's get out

I've only heard of the "flickering lights" issues, but I haven't heard any reports of those in a while. What else have you heard?

No but seriously what I mean is, don't you have any friends or siblings or coworkers that would sort of giggle about the fact that you drive a minivan? Honest question.

do you really think i'm the kind of person that would give a flying fvck what someone thinks of what i drive?

and the actual answer is, most of my friends are married and have kids and they all either own minivans or wish they had purchased a minivan instead of the SUV they ended up buying.

i looked at some SUV's i even made a thread about buying Lincoln Aviator instead of a minivan, but after driving it and driving several minivans, it became clear to my wife and i, no SUV is going to ever be as convenient and usefull as a minivan.

practicality is actually quite important.

My wife drive the Ford Expedition "aircraft carrier edition" and we get 12MPG and wish she had a minivan with electric sliding doors. A minivan would be soooo much better that the oil tanker she is driving now.

This monster SUV sucks when you have very young children you have to pickup and climb into the the vehicle just to put them in a bayseat located in the middle.

But don't you feel so "hip" driving it? ;)

just problems with the engine. nothing major but a few were saying the engine has had a history of problems (in a diffrent vehicle). shrug i really didnt pay to close attention to (also i had posted on atot asking about it)what was said to be honest. but it is one of the few vehicles we are looking at.

I really like the style of the relay. but with gas prices i think it might be to big for us heh

What Gatsby doesn't get yet is that the truly hip and cool couldn't care less about what other people think. :) When I started dating my husband, he was driving a 1978 VW Diesel Rabbit... we called it the wheelbarrow. There was another guy who was also interested in me and he drove a brand new Supra. It bothered me that he was so image conscious... I find that boring.

Anyway, I love driving my Honda Odyssey... it's a 1999, fully loaded, and gets 25MPG. Excellently built machine. Plus, we bought it right before they became really popular, so we got a good deal (27K). It's the same as the 2000, 2001, etc.

we had a windstar that had the same chasis and transmission of the taurus. we spent over $5k on transmission problems with it because whatever is wrong with your car seems to never be covered under warranty. i will never buy another ford product for the rest of my life. their service is terrible, at least in richmond va.

we bought a saturn sli in 97 and have only ever had to replace the brakes and tires on it. best car service wise i have ever had.

I had a Saturn before my Odyssey. It was a great car!

hmm i have had a few Fords and never had much trouble with them. I have also owned about 5 accords. 2 of them were in the shop a LOT with problems.

but you are right about the old windstar. it had headgasket and tranny trouble. though i haven't heard anything wrong with the freestar yet. Nearly everything has been postive about the van.

my windstar is 6 yrs old, it has developed head gasket and tranny problems. i guess that's on par with this vehicle, i can't complain that much tho as it has 120k miles on it and i've only changed the oil in this vehicle like 7 times and when i took it in to have it serviced this last time, the automatic transmission fluid was almost empty. i'm not sure if my car problems are quality control or user based. ;) i'm leaning towards it's my fault. i'm not convinced a toyota or honda would have done much better under the circumstances.

How big of a dirt bike can you fit in it? I can see the alpaca, if he's laying down, but a decent size bike I would think would be too tall.

Yamaha YZ85
and an Yamaha RT100

You're right, my son's other bike, a Kawasaki 250 would be too tight of a squeeze to get in there. No one would notice 1000 pounds of coal in the van; it takes up *very* little space. To give a general idea of how much space 1000 pounds of coal is, it's 25 bags... (glancing around) the same size as a 16 pound bag of cat food. Not even 2 full layers of bags on the floor behind the front seats. And, the van handles great with that weight in there. With 1 seat, there's far more room than there was in the Cherokee; with 2 seats removed, there's a ton of room. (Next time you're at Home Depot or Lowes, look at the size of the bundles of 2x4's and other wood... the landscape timbers where in the same sized bundle. Stuck them in the back end, and drove home with no problems. I don't know why they don't call them "utility vans" instead of mini-vans. A grand caravan is anything but mini.

No wonder that went over my head... That isn't something I would worry about. If I guy was with me for my looks, I'd get tired of him pretty fast.

Never understand why FORD decides to slap Taurus transmission on a minivan and didn't expect problem....

I never "inherated" anything and I grew up working class, don't open your mouth about someone you've never met.

ya. again, as i said, i'm not sure i can blame ford as much as i can blame myself.

i'm curious as to how a toyota would have done under similar circumstances.

120k miles is ok.

Pot to kettle, son. If I remove the little blurb about the inheritance, then the rest still stands true.

On a side note, I'd sooner cut off my arm than meet you.

What's the advantage of a minivan over an SUV?

Minivans drive and handle like a sleigh.

And you certainly won't look very "hip" rolling up in your "minivan."

Have you driven a minivan lately??
They drive quiet well, a sleigh doesn't go 90 very well.

I loved my MDX, but when the 3rd kid arrived there was no question it had to go for a 2005 Ody Minivan.. no comparison with larger families..

my friends call the decked out ody the "space shuttle" because of all the features they pack in these things.

power sliding doors
6 disc in dash cd changer
intergrated rear dvd for kids
xm sat radio
voice activated navigation
heated seats
leather
moonroof
color rear view camera
more cup holders than victoria secrets....
