If you can only choose 5 then without fail my 5 will always be from the Bill of Rights.

you don't find women's suffrage importante?

I can't speak for spidey, but I doubt many states would stop allowing women to vote if the 19th amendment were to disappear. Certainly it's important to allow everyone to vote, but if you really had to choose five amendments, we could live without that one.

Besides, the way you framed that question is unfair. We're talking about a hypothetical situation in which you have to name the five most important amendments, without which our country would run into major trouble. May as well say that anyone who doesn't include the 13th in their list "supports slavery."

Any thread where people learn about our Constitution and it's amendments and actually have to think critically about which 5 are must keeps is a good thread, IMHO. Far to many people have never even read it. :(

But without a an 18th you don't need a 21st.

The 14th amendment needs to be clarified that it doesn't apply to illegal immigrants or those here on short term visas.

the 9th and 10th is thought of as a truism

Without the amendment it becomes unconstitutional for women to vote, the states wouldn't have a choice. This magic situation leaves the constitution intact and just strips it of the amendments.

Not it does not. No where in the Constitution is sex or race mentioned as regards voting excepting the amendments specifically regarding those 2 subjects. Wyoming allowed women to vote in 1869.

22 - That way Willy Clinton could run again and fix this mess Bush and Obama made.

And just how is Billdo Clinton getting his d!ck sucked for four more years going to fix this mess?

I agree 2 and 10 protect all the others.
