6th: Right to a fair and speedy public trial, Notice of accusations, Confronting one's accuser, Subpoenas, Right to counsel

9th: Unenumerated rights

22nd: Limits the president to two terms

For me, the 9th amendment (fundamental rights) pretty much takes care of the abolition of slavery, suffrage for all races, and women's suffrage.

22nd is there because of Bush. If he could have gone on as long as peeps were dumb enough to vote for him, :sad;

Without the 2nd or 10th you are not even guaranteed that the Constitution will even be valid anymore so the rest of the amendments don't mean much.

Without those, I wouldn't want to live here. With those, all other amendments can be obtained peacefully and legally.

Notice to the historically and politically uninformed: this started with Reagan and was severely snowballed by Clinton with his "everyone should own a home" bullshit. We're only just now reaping the 'benefits' of their dumbassholery.

I actually think ALL the amendments are necessary, but would like to gut a few of some of the provisions contained in them. Just ONE example is the 14th amendment. Due process is a valuable right for us Americans, but the "anchor baby" provision:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. "
needs to be re-worded so that children born of illegal immigrants are not automatically granted citizenship.

There are many things in today's society that could not have been envisioned during the writing of the original Amendments...but should be modified to fit today's reality.
