I would probably ask "Is there a God or Supreme Being?"

If you'd voice the question that way the answer would be 'Yes', considering those aliens ARE apparently superior, if they check on earth to see whether we are still in a barbaric stage.

'What is the purpose of our existance' might give you a better answer. If they answer 'For the continuation of the species' Darwin was right, and if they say 'To worship the alcoholic who genetically engineered you' God does exist.

Of course it's much more fun to ask them a question of the type 'What is red and green and goes round and round and round?'
