But really, are there no threads on this dude? I tried searching but couldn't find anything. Black guy, racism, guns, beer, figured it would be a popular topic.

who is that dude? is his name also Omar? does he also rob drug dealers? Does he also enjoy the occasional cock-in-ass?

MANCHESTER — —
All eight men fatally shot during a murderous rampage at Hartford Distributors Inc. Tuesday died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
The death of the man who police say did the shooting, Omar Thornton, was ruled a suicide. Thornton, 34, died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Thornton took two 9 mm handguns out of his lunchbox Tuesday morning, police said, and went on a shooting spree after a disciplinary hearing at Hartford Distributors Inc. In all, he owned six guns — legally, police said.

Union officials said Thornton signed a letter of resignation at his disciplinary hearing Tuesday morning, and on his way out he said he wanted a drink of water.
"He signed a letter of resignation and agreed to that as an alternative to being fired," said Gregg Adler, the attorney for Teamsters Local 1035. "He went into a separate room to get a drink of water and came out shooting."
Adler said Thornton apparently shot at anyone who was nearby after he left the office portion of the building and entered the warehouse. Besides the three people in the meeting with him Tuesday – union president Bryan Cirigliano, company supervisor Louis Felder and chief operating officer Steve Hollander – Adler said it did not appear other victims were specifically targeted.
"The union members he shot were people who just happened to be working in the area," Adler said.
Adler said they had no record of any complaints filed by Thornton based on racial harassment. He said there would have been an immediate investigation of the complaint if one had been made.
"There was no complaint of any kind like what was communicated [by Thornton's family]," Adler said.
Adler and Chris Roos, the secretary and treasurer of Local 1035, addressed reporters outside the union's headquarters not far from the Hartford Distributors campus.
They said the union will hold grief counseling sessions for the employees of Hartford Distributors on Thursday.
Police recovered the handguns on or near Thornton after he killed himself, Manchester Police Lt. Christopher Davis said during a press conference Wednesday morning. A shotgun found in his car was not believed to have been used.
In a chilling 911 tape released later Wednesday, victim Steve Hollander, chief operating officer of Hartford Distributors, reports that he had been shot.
"He's shooting at somebody else," Hollander said to the dispatcher. "He's still shooting!" Popping sounds can be heard in the background.
The guns, which Thornton bought from an East Windsor gun dealer, are registered, Davis said.
The 34-year-old lacks a criminal record and has not had any dealings with local police, Davis said.
— Two more victims identified

Even at Tuesday's hearing, during which Thornton resigned from his truck driver's job, no one had reason to be suspicious.
"He wasn't agitated," Davis said. "He didn't seem overly concerned."
"There was no indication that this gentleman was violent in any way."

Still, over a period of 45 minutes, Thornton walked and ran through the massive warehouse, firing at co-workers, Davis said. For reasons police may never know, he chose not to shoot some — such as a disabled woman confined to a wheelchair.
An officer arrived within three minutes of the first 911 call at 7:26 a.m., Davis said. Workers were fleeing the building, and the officer brought them to safety. Within 10 minutes, a five-man team of officers went into the building, entering what Davis described as a "chaotic situation."
At 8:15 a.m., police found Thornton in a corner office. By the time they got to him, he was dead.

"He knew we were coming," said Glastonbury Capt. David Caron, commander of Capitol Region Emergency Services Team, or CREST.
Investigators are talking to company officials to determine if any surveillance cameras in the building captured all or parts of the rampage, Davis said. The detectives, which includes members of the Connecticut State Police, were still analyzing evidence and were expected to be on the scene into the night, Davis said.
Meanwhile, the community is responding to the tragedy by scheduling a prayer service.
The inter-denominational service is set for Aug. 10, the one-week anniversary of the mass killing. It is meant "to help the community cope with the tragedy and mourn the loss" of the Hartford Distributor workers, organizer Lori Fowler said. The service is expected to last about an hour and is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at North United Methodist Church, 300 Parker St. in Manchester.
Mayor Lou Spadaccini , other town officials and representatives of local emergency responders are to attend, Fowler said. The Rev. Laurel Scott, pastor of North United Methodist, is to lead the service, along with clergy representing other faiths, she said.
At Wednesday's press conference, Davis described Thornton as "fairly nomadic" and said he moved from "place to place." Although Thornton's family has said he had complained about racism at Hartford Distributors, Davis said, "The company has not reported any type of racial discrimination complaints,"
The company had a complaint against Thornton, though, Davis said.
"They suspected him of stealing alcohol from the company, so they had a private investigator following him around for a few weeks," he said.
Early Tuesday, Thornton headed into a disciplinary hearing about the company's allegations. Police believe he left the lunch box with the guns in it in a kitchen area.
During the meeting, company officials confronted Thornton with a videotape that appeared to show him stealing. He was calm, Davis said, and even made a comment about how good the camera's quality was.
Told he should resign or be fired, he opted to quit. He wrote a brief letter of resignation, Davis said.
When the meeting was over, he asked for a drink of water and went to the kitchen, Davis said. It was then that he pulled out the guns, exited the kitchenette and started shooting in the hallway, he said. The two men who had been escorting him were fatally shot, he said.
From the hallway, he went to an office area and then into a large warehouse where he shot more workers, Davis said.
"He then chased one or more victims through the building out into the parking lot before re-entering the building…" Davis said. He got locked out and was unable to get in, so he shot through the glass to open the door, he said.
"He was walking at some points, he was running, chasing people at other points," Davis said. "But then he'd go back to a walk."
Some people hid under desks. Others ran outside and hid in the woods, he said.
While the first two victims, shot in the kitchenette, appeared to have been targeted, Davis said, police don't know for sure why he shot the others.
Or why he spared them.
Thornton passed by some people without firing, he said, including the woman in a wheelchair.
"She wasn't sure why she was spared," Davis said.

cliffs:
black guy got pissed off because of apparently racist workplace
he gets fired for something, I think I read somewhere for stealing beer(worked at a distributor)
he kills some people and then himself

seems like he had a legit claim of racism, so I guess people got what was coming. sounds like he didn't just go after anyone or everyone, and doesn't sound like hes too crazy, though muder/suicide is debatable

and for the record I haven't read this exact article I posted. I've read a few over the last couple days and i just grabbed that one for people who haven't heard about it

I can't find any legit claim of racism.

Are you kidding?

They thought he had been stealing beer for some time but could never catch him. So they hired private investigators to catch him stealing beer and recorded him on video.

If it were a White guy, they would have just let the guy take the beer as a gift.

(Yes, I am being sarcastic. This guy is a douche.)

I'm in CT and it's been all the news talk about.

His story isn't adding up. His family says he complained to union about racism, but they deny he ever came to them. He calls his family to say he shot got the 5 people that harassed him, but he killed 8 others.

Yeah, this has been running pretty rampant on the gun boards. The guy sounds like he might have been deep down nuts, but nobody ever noticed it or said anything.

Uh, because even murderers can have morals against shooting handicapped women? Sounds like the alcohol-loving union-working cripple is lamenting being spared.

seems like you're at the very least mildly retarded.

idk, were you there? I'll give the guy some benefit of the doubt and believe him, considering he decided to kill some people over it. or, he was crazy and was paranoid. doesn't really matter now though

Unless they were in the process of stringing him up on a noose when he successfully fought back and killed them, I'll stand by my original assumption of you being an idiot. If you think racism justifies murder, then there really isn't much to discuss.

I don't think what I said implies that, but I obviously don't think that murder was justified here...but assuming there was racism going on, I don't have much sympathy for the victims. that would also be assuming only the racists got killed, which might not be the case. if you are fucking with a guy like that, what do you expect? some people are fucking nuts, and will come and kill you. not that its justified exactly, but its not some random bullshit.

a lot of people in another thread think that punching a girl justifies getting your ass kicked and then head stomped in the street by a UFC fighter. that could have easily killed the guy but people justified it. this situation is on a higher level, but not too different in going to extremes

I hope that's sarcasm. I'm tapping my detector but it doesn't seem to be registering anything.
So, you say because someone says something derogitory or inflamitory they deserve to be killed? If that's the case, then there wouldn't be anyone to post in P&N.

You just got played by the racist white text.
