maybe they needs some training on the subject if they can't control themselves.

Maybe moms need to realize that they aren't at home?

All I'm saying is that there is a viable alternative for the women. Wouldn't you rather be in a private area breast feeding your child instead of in a public place where kids are running around and the smell of overpowering chlorine is filling your nostrils?

If the YMCA had said, you can't breast feed at the pool, and we don't have any areas inside our facility to accommodate you AT ALL, then I'd agree...
that's your opinion. obviously it would change if your wife wanted to breastfeed your child on demand.

So WTF do they need to protest?

Seconded.

Its one thing if you're out in the middle of a park and your child get hungry (and sometimes they have growth spurts so all of a sudden they are hungry even if they just ate an hour ago). But when there are suitable facilities that they refuse to use, they are just being stupid and looking for a fight.

I don't care how natural, practical, or nonsexual breastfeeding is; it is not appropriate to be naked in public whatsoever. Your baby can wait the 2 minutes it takes to walk out to the car or the bathroom or whatever.
i'd gladly walk around naked if it weren't for the fact i'd be arrested for "indecent exposure". clothes should be just to keep us warm, and optional.

and if you werent arrested for indecent exposure... youd have 28 guys and 1 girl arrested for sexual harrassment.
btw..they do have nudist colonies for people like you... go join one.

were you breastfed at all? will your wife breastfeed your children?

I wouldn't let my wife breastfeed in public(not that she would want to anyway). She is very attractive, and I don't want other people oggling her. Neither does she want to be stared at. Just because you breastfeed does not mean you have to whip it out everywhere.
that's fine, and her choice.

I actually couldn't care less on this topic, I don't find bare breasts with a baby attached particularly erotic or repulsive. But thats all I was getting at...the natural arguement isn't an arguement at all. Then we get the "but its a different natural" apparently there's good natural and bad natural and thats what we're arguing about...but we all agree that it is, in fact, natural so who cares?

This is like going into a Japanese versus Domestic car thread and telling the domestic guys "They're cars! Are you retarded? They are cars. Why can't you see?"

I believe that I was breastfed at home, but when in public I had a bottle
probably because breastfeeding was even more chastised in public at that time then it is now.

you should ask you mom if society was more open about it if she would have breastfed you in public. the convenience cannot be denied.

YOUR convenience is not always beneficial to everyone else. It may be convenient to use a cell phone in church or at a funeral, but is it really appropriate?

Your child is helpless and can't take care of itself. It has to pee/poop just like the rest of us and doesn't have the luxury of doing so itself. So, the baby has to be changed.

So that being said, is it appropriate to change your baby anywhere you want to b/c it HAS to be done?

yes she will... but my wife has enough decency to not expose her breasts in a public place without at least going into a privacy room.

And that's the thing. The YMCA has areas for the women to use if they are breast feeding. They are accommodating the mothers.

So WTF do they need to protest?

So when the kid gets hungry, they have to take him through the locker room, shower, dry off, go the area, feed, and then go back through.

It's much simpler if they just do it where they are. 10 minutes and they're done.

Not all women pump. If they don't want to, they shouldn't have to. My wife says that it's not the most comfortable experience.

its just reserved for a proper time and place.

i really don't think your comparisons apply. using a cell phone or changing a diaper isn't near what feeding a child is.

right... so if you feed the baby 2 minutes adn 45 seconds late...because you had to walk to a breastfeeding room... what... the child is gonna die?

I have to agree here. I tend to think that a big reason we have so many people so uptight about newdity is because it is so ridiculously controlled. The idea that you can show people getting their heads blown off on primetime tv but not a woman breastfeeding a baby is just insane.

Can a baby take care of itself? No.
Can a baby feed itself? No
Can a baby change its own diaper? No.

If feeding a baby is a task done by the mother to nourish her baby who can't feed itself, then how is that any different from a mother changing her baby's diaper b/c it can't do so for itself?

Both are tasks critical to taking care of your child and have to be performed by the parent.

If your baby just dropped a big ass SMELLY load in his/her diaper and you are sitting next to someone, you don't just sit there and let the other person be inconvenienced by your pooping/smelly baby. You get up and go change the diaper or move somewhere where the smell isn't disgusting someone else.

If your kid has to breast feed and you're sitting next to that same person, don't you feel that some people may be uncomfortable with you whipping out your breast and having your kid suck away right beside them?

It's not always about YOU (not you, moshquerade😉)

some of us only like to see one woman naked, our wife. we shouldn't have to worry about that. there was a time in this world when more people felt like that i guess. :\

Most people still believe the human body should be kept for intimacy with your partner. Not displayed and flaunted as a piece of artwork.

i think, besides the smell, diapers cannot be changed in public because then the public can view the baby's private parts. if you are against breastfeeding in public i am sure you don't want to see little vaginas and little penises all over the place.

and once again, it's not "whipping out" a breast. most women do it so you cannot even see the breast at all.

i guess i could say it's not always about you either NFS4, because others agree with me on this topic too.

Can't you bottle breast milk? Why not just pump before you leave, bottle it up and throw it in a insulated bag with an icepack (I don't know how long that stuff keeps).

I don't think my mom wipped out her breasts in public for me when I was a kid. I always had a bottle.
were you breastfed at all? will your wife breastfeed your children?

I believe that I was breastfed at home, but when in public I had a bottle
probably because breastfeeding was even more chastised in public at that time then it is now.

you should ask you mom if society was more open about it if she would have breastfed you in public. the convenience cannot be denied.

YOUR convenience is not always beneficial to everyone else. It may be convenient to use a cell phone in church or at a funeral, but is it really appropriate?

Your child is helpless and can't take care of itself. It has to pee/poop just like the rest of us and doesn't have the luxury of doing so itself. So, the baby has to be changed.

So that being said, is it appropriate to change your baby anywhere you want to b/c it HAS to be done?
i really don't think your comparisons apply. using a cell phone or changing a diaper isn't near what feeding a child is.

right... so if you feed the baby 2 minutes adn 45 seconds late...because you had to walk to a breastfeeding room... what... the child is gonna die?
who mentioned death? my stance is if a baby is crying hungry - feed it. women who breast feed don't "whip it out", contrary to popular belief here. they are discreet.
i don't see what the big deal is here except for some reason it embarasses certain people to see such a humanistic event.

We don't actually know what instigated the original complaint here. It could be that a woman was extremely indiscreet. I think we need pics.
you actually admit you want to see that pic in this thread?

isn't this thread about how disgusting it is to see a woman breastfeeding?

I dont believe we said disgusting... i said inappropriate.

I'm amazed at the display of ignorance in this thread. Breastfeeding is the best way of taking care of your child. People who opposed it are morons. And comparing this to defecating or urinating is idiotic... just goes to show how horribly uneducated some men can be.

i agree. whats the big deal??? i hate the puritans, their early non compromising strict beliefs are a scurge to western society. for you mornons who comapre breast feeding to urinating or taking a crap in public sicken me.

Breast feeding should be a natural part of life. Unfortunately, we have too many childish perverts who are tempted to look but to afraid of getting caught so they get mad.

Defecating is a natural part of life too.

fecal matter near the pool would create some dangerous, infectious bacteria. I don't think breast millk would create the same problem.
