The lifeguards find bare breasts distracting.

That's one of the reasons officials at the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Y-M-C-A say they've banned breast-feeding at the pool. But nursing moms counter that's no excuse.

The breast-feeding mothers plan a nurse-in at the Y tomorrow to protest the ban. However, Krista Dragun, one of the protest organizers, says they'll be nursing their babies in the lobby, not the pool area.

She says they want the Y to adopt a more mother-baby friendly policy for the pool. Y officials note there's no eating or drinking allowed at the pool for anyone. But they add mothers are welcome to nurse their babies in other areas of the facility.

I'm sick of these women thinking that they can just whip their boobs out whenever they feel like it. They don't take a piss wherever they they feel like it, so why not breast feed in designated areas as well? Breast-feeding by the pool?? COME ON NOW!!!

I don't get it either, I know your kid is hungry, but how hard is it to find someplace semi-private? I don't find the act disgusting or a naked breast shocking or anything, I think of it more like me whipping out a sandwich and chowing down on it wherever I feel like...just seems strange.

I was at a new client's office the other day setting up a new server and some workstations and one of the women had her kid there and kept whipping it out while I was setting up her workstation. 😕

Babies aren't like adults. When they're hungry, they eat.

Lactating breasts are functional. If you're bothered by it, get over it.

If a mother doesn't want to cover her child's head while he's eating, she shouldn't have to.
 
You know, the only reason they're making a rule here is because some people have been horribly abusing the lack of one. All you have to do is throw a towel over the baby and your chest and then whip it out and no one should be bothered. I betting these women can't even be bothered to do that.

Breast feeding should be a natural part of life. Unfortunately, we have too many childish perverts who are tempted to look but to afraid of getting caught so they get mad.

I'm amazed at the display of ignorance in this thread. Breastfeeding is the best way of taking care of your child. People who opposed it are morons. And comparing this to defecating or urinating is idiotic... just goes to show how horribly uneducated some men can be.

no one is opposed to breastfeeding.... we are opposed to breastfeeding in a public place in view of others... go lock yourself in a toilet stall or broom closet or soemthing.

You cannot deny that there is a sexual aspect of a womans breast, regardless of how it may be used for practical purposes. They should not be openly displayed in public.
