I was watching this show on PBS about hackers. Yeah, I think hackers are complete assholes, who need to get out instead of messing with other peoples' things. But, they were talking about this group of people who play "hacking games", which they actually use as training or preperation for a hacker-attacker. (I made that word up myself. 😉). It got me to thinking....

Wouldn't it be cool if there was like...this multiplayer game on the web, you download the game, and the game is just sort of like...writing code and trying to build up your defenses while trying to break through other peoples'? Of course, no actual hacking would be done, someone would set up a defense that protects their IMAGINARY computer (I guess it would just be something activated in the game), and try to break into other peoples? I dunno, maybe this is just rambling, but my imagination got going...sounds like it could be fun if done properly.
 
Yeah, people with the ability to code and hack, and are interested in hacking, are going to play a computer game of it rather than just do the real thing.

'Hacking' itself is boring... it's the accomplishment of successful intruding and going through somebody elses stuff that is rewarding. What would the reward be in a game?
 
LOL yeah, people think hacking is watching codes fly off your screen, people sending you trojans and you need to defend yourself, you're rushing on adrenaline to close off ports, etc. LOL

well, I knew what you meant, but unfortunetly, most of America doesn't. They think that hackers = crackers.
Also, stupid 14yo AOLers(not all 14yos mind you. I was 14 last year😉) wouldn't know what you mean either, they think that being a 3117 haX0r is what you or I would call a script kiddie.
 
Ugh beat me to it, check out uplink if you want a game that is based on the "concept", no its no like really hacking something but they have a demo so check it out.
