I'm sorry, EthicalsAngel, but I have enough reasons to question your motive or credibility:
1) You claim you're going to be a lawyer, yet you have trouble verifying a claim by your supposed bf? Why would he know the law more than you?
2) What's up with your grammar, especially if you're truly going to be a lawyer? (I suppose you're a law student at the moment.)
3) You are 23 years old, have kids but are lingering on the question of sticking with a man married before and playing games?
Even if your question is genuine, it's a travesty to see a woman at such young age not seeming to think she deserves someone better. You always second guess yourself, don't you?
If you really want an answer to your question, let's do it this way: What is your state of residence? What is the county? What about city? Actually, give specific information applicable to where your so-called bf got married, and his wife supposedly got divorced. I could see if it happens to be one of those with internet databases. If it is and you want a firm answer, then I could help you check. What I mean by check is to see if there's any legitimacy in his claim (i.e., that she was still legally married at the time) in the first place, unless of course the marriage took place overseas.

Oh yeah, thanks for the link, Iwearnosox. I thought that was she. Your link just verified that it is indeed the same lady I had in mind. The age and kids part sounded so familiar.
She's the lady that posted her picture long time ago (I believe last year) and asked members to rate her because she wanted to know how she looked without makeup. I remember her saying she had lost a leg, unless I'm mixing her up with another member (which I highly doubt, since there aren't too many females at this forum). She was 21 at the time, and her profile read divorced. She also posted stuff about some stupid ex-husband.
From my recollection, she had a different nick. I don't know if she changed it or just abandoned her old account. She's definitely made more posts than it reads now. My guess is that her old posts were deleted or she abandoned her original account.
In any case, I guess that explains it all. My reason for the recounting was to understand where she's coming from with this post. She second-guesses herself, I guess. In my opinion, she's trying to make excuses for this man and justify what isn't justifiable. Giving time to check his case is simply a mistake, in my opinion. The court clerk where a marriage is done should be able to advise you on the status.

The man is safe, the wife is breaking the law. Given that fact, the marriage could be annulled due to deception.
By you entering into a relationship with such a person may not say well for your character.
He knew what he was doing was wrong and still did it. There could easily be other skeletons in his closet.
If you are desperate to land him, at least invest in some research to back track his trail.
Otherwise cut your losses.

She's (wife #2) is involved in bigamy for those 2 years. Marriage #2 was never legal or valid. Said man is not currently married, but obviously isn't too concerned about his marriage because he knew of the situation but didn't use common sense to ask the very question you're asking. And, technically he's married and still (I assume) banging you, so that throws all ethics out the door anyway. Why bother getting married when you can just have an affair and he'll be twice as happy.
