YIKES!!! Was he ever married????

Ok I have an issue. I recently started dating a man, who believed he is still married. When we began talking about his marriage, and what not, he told me that she hadn't been divorced from her first marriage until a year after they were married. This just didn't seem right to me, I looked around for information on this topic, but I'm not really coming up with much. Thought maybe I would luck out and catch a lawyer on here.... hey it's worth a try. This guy is great, and the less things he has to go through with is ex the better. I don't really want to commit to him until I know that he isn't married. But this could be my chance to find out, is he really married, because his ex was still married when they got married,(and didn't get the divorce until a year after they were married) is it null and void?

Just for the record, I know his supposed wife, and I don't see you posting a picture of yourself, so shut up, I am asking a simple question, you don't get it, then get a life.

It would really depend on the state, but imho I think that his marriage would be null and void if she were not divorced from a previous marriage. It is called bigamy on her part to say the least. But, if I am correct, they are not legally married. If they were married in chuch, he might have to get an annulment.

It's going to vary by state. Even then it'll matter how long he was with the second woman ~ even if the second marriage wasn't legal to start with he and she may be married now ex post facto under the state's commonlaw marriage statutes.
