Nice looking car, ZV. I always think that if I was single I'd buy something like that...a slightly older sports car with some character to it.
Honestly, that's only worth about $7,000. It's within reach as a "weekend" car for a family man with a good job like yourself. Maybe not right now with skoorbaby, but in a few years sure. That's what I like about the 944 series, it's affordable and reliable if taken care of.

I don't really have much of a coice with those sorts of cars though. It's a disease where I have to have the car first and then after I've got it I figure out how the fvck I'm going to get the money. If you read Peter Egan in Road & Track, you've got a pretty good idea of what happens to me when "the right car" comes along.

You don't understand how much I want a 944!! I'm just waiting to get an internship then I'll actively search for one. I hope they aren't overpriced in Canada.

If it's to be a hobby car, I like it, a little bit of rust, probably cleanable if you get to the body quick.

If it's to be a daily car, find something else.

The rust is too far gone. You're gonna drop 5k just fixing that. That stuff will NOT just sand off either. There's a reason why it's called "cancer".

The engine and such is actually the cheaper part. A $2k rebuild will get that engine purring.

Are you seeing it yet?

Take your $500, find an old 914. Drop in a $1500 rebuild and thrash the heck out of it.

A $500 914 will be rusted in half. 914's rust if you drive them by a box of saltine crackers.

You need at least $2,500 to get a straight 914 with a dead engine and transaxle.
