I just meant detached from all this aftermath, threats etc. As I'm sure some people would like to interpret it as defense of all the attacks on her.

If I were to speak a bit broader, these activists often hurt their own cause by becoming obsessed with it. Seeing everything through an "ism" filter is a sure fire way to turn into The Boy Who Cried Wolf, ultimately just preaching to the converted.

Hating women for being women makes as much sense as hating the internet for being hateful and full of death threats. You just have to learn to accept the nature of things. Or you can see things as you wish they were and live in a world of constant disappointment.

The point here is the person, not the shark. People are responsible for the situations that they place themselves in. Unfortunately, at this point in the feminist revolution, women are never considered to be responsible for their actions. Feminism has become about gaining the privileges of being a man but taking on none of the obligations & responsibilities.

I get your point. She can expect some sort of backlash from her statements. Thats obvious. I think the people spitting at her are only making her more powerful to the mainstream. All she has to do is point to a few horrible twitter posts and she's in the right regardless of anything else in the public eye. That's why not only is the crap spewing forth by hateful people wrong on behavior grounds, it also undermines their side of the argument by making them look like exactly the type of people she is describing.

There is a good discussion to be had on these issues.

Well, she pulled out some decent information such as the names of three women that left video games because of harassment in the work place. She shows the slides of how few women work in video games. You can look at the death threats and other tweets coming in. I think she does a bad job of trying to paint everyone with a broad brush. I'd be interested in hearing her side of the story in a long form article with a lot of information. I wish a gaming website would actually dig deep into this and pull out some facts.

i just watched an interview on some news site with this woman and some guy in the industry and they're talking about posting memes, 4 chan, 8 chan, gamer culture, lolcats, etc.

LOL, I'm just thinking like does anyone over 30 know what any of that means? Its like this big internet flame war and i bet 99% of the world has no idea what they are talking about or even cares.

If these people start saying everything is discrimination when it isn't, or exaggerating discrimination too much, then when they actually point something out legitimately, no one is going to believe them. All too many activists fall into this trap, and it does nothing but hurt their cause.
