Yet another discussion on the military: Army (contrast) Marines

Well, we all know what ARMY really stands for:
Ain't Ready to be a Marine Yet

😛

Seriously, don't let anyone tell you that the job opportunities are greater from one branch to the other. What it really depends on is how you leverage your skills to employers once your enlistment is over and you enter the job force.
Those who think that all Marines are bullet catchers are wrong. We are all trained to catch bullets, some of us just don't get the opportunity because we have COMM gear to maintain.

Good luck with whatever your choice is.

If you don't mind me asking, but curiousity got the best of me; what exactly do you mean "house matters" for not going Navy or Air Force?

Navy: My brother joined the NROTC; full ride to UofM, and he's trying to leave the Navy because not enough leadership and respect.. (going to the Marines)
AF: My friend's brother is in it, and I merely get told how they're not as respectful as they should be (basically same reason as the Navy)

All Same pay check.

Marines - hard, IED fodder, MREs.

Air force -rear with the gear, better food, more women, better transferable skills to civilian life, better billets.

I know which I'd pick but I'm not full of testosterone anymore.

As a Marine I guess I would have to say that in some respects they are better, though I have nothing really to compare to.

I will say that I didn't care much for MY Marine experience, but maybe yours will be better....

Seems like you already have your mind made up. Im currently a LCpl in the Marine Corps and so far I like it, its nice to do stuff that normal civilians dont get the chance to do. I live in Japan, Ive been to Korea and I got to see the DMZ while i was over there, theres always possibilities of going to Thailand, Australia, The Phillipines, etc. Those are awesome places to go to that most civilians will never go to in their life, unless they pay alot of money to go there.

If you got any questions, PM me Ill answer them the best I can.

Air Force all the way. 🙂

Just get in a career field with openings. The USAF is looking to cut 50,000 airmen from the service in the next couple of years. Can't go wrong as a cop though.

Hey MorbidSteve I was kinda in the same boat as you, and decided to go with the Marines. I enlisted about a month ago and will go to boot in late august. I feel good about the choice i made. Hope you can find a path thats right for you.
