oh, and you can zoom in a lot further and out a lot further. Which is nice for managing your empire and getting control over battles.

I'm very disapointed in this game, I don't see any real difference at all. I paid $24 for nothing as far as i'm concerned.

^ To be honest I've been feeling the same. I kinda like the old look better than this one, it feels fake somehow. Also the game seems glitchy, a lot more so than the original. I guess the biggest win is the multiplayer community & support, but yeah, it's definitely not worth the price I paid.

Alright, after turning off the extra lighting, it doesnt look so bad. And I do like widescreen and a huge zoom range.

MP didnt work out so hot. I couldnt connect no matter what I did. I like it overall.

I couldn't connect multi player either, it just sits there. I start clicking buttons that just lead me in a short circle of windows. Plus, when I start the game from steam half the opening screen is missing, I was thinking is my graphics card overheated. Then I when i tried to play the campaign the cuts cenes were freezing, it obviously wasn't the graphics lol, the pillars looked like they were cut out from paper and glued on. Bad graphics but amazing voice acting.

I can't zoom out very far at all, i'll look more closely at the settings.

If it's like AoE3 there is an option on how far you can zoom out. I've seen it be a slider bar in some games too

IMHO, $24 is a bit of a ripoff of this. Even AoE2: The Forgotton came with +5x civs, etc, and that was an expansion pack. This is virtually full-price and all it's really done is slap some GFX on it and "Steam achievements" (Achievement : Erik The Red - for killing 1,000 Egyptians!) Thanks, but I broke through that 12 years ago... :|

For those who own the "old" disc version, anti-aliasing was already there via your GFX drivers. If you suffered from "invisible trees", just use Super instead of Multi-sampling. Likewise, widescreen support was already there, just change your command line to this:-

"C: \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe" xres=1920 yres=1080 +noIntroCinematics

Loved this game when it first came out.
For now, I will wait until there's a super sale.

the base game looks like ass in widescreen.

Of course, the new game looks like ass with the super enhanced lighting effects.

It was in Steam Summer Sale several times and it even was the first midweek madness sale, for 40%. My guess is that it'll go down soon. I'll buy it when it reaches 60% discount, though 50% might tempt me if I've had some beers.
