oh, and you can zoom in a lot further and out a lot further. Which is nice for managing your empire and getting control over battles.
I couldn't connect multi player either, it just sits there. I start clicking buttons that just lead me in a short circle of windows. Plus, when I start the game from steam half the opening screen is missing, I was thinking is my graphics card overheated. Then I when i tried to play the campaign the cuts cenes were freezing, it obviously wasn't the graphics lol, the pillars looked like they were cut out from paper and glued on. Bad graphics but amazing voice acting.
I can't zoom out very far at all, i'll look more closely at the settings.
IMHO, $24 is a bit of a ripoff of this. Even AoE2: The Forgotton came with +5x civs, etc, and that was an expansion pack. This is virtually full-price and all it's really done is slap some GFX on it and "Steam achievements" (Achievement : Erik The Red - for killing 1,000 Egyptians!) Thanks, but I broke through that 12 years ago... :|
For those who own the "old" disc version, anti-aliasing was already there via your GFX drivers. If you suffered from "invisible trees", just use Super instead of Multi-sampling. Likewise, widescreen support was already there, just change your command line to this:-
"C: \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Mythology\aomx.exe" xres=1920 yres=1080 +noIntroCinematics
