Age of Mythology coming to Steam on May 8th.

Updated graphics, day/night cycle, multiplayer, live streaming, achievements, and everyone's favorite Steam goodie: Trading Cards!!!!!!!:p

Okay, it is pretty expensive for a 12 year old game at $23.99, but I'm jumping on it suckas!

Fantastic news!

Age of Mythology was the first game that I followed religiously from initial announcement to release. Not a fan of the Titans expansion, but it's not that bad.

I just wish a true sequel could have been made. :(

That's a blast from the past. It's a shame Microsoft killed the Ages franchise.

I bought a boxed version off of eBay about a year ago, but that isn't going to stop me :)

Awesome! I loved playing this game. Was hoping for a cheaper $, but will still grab it.

Great news! I lost so many hours in this game!
Glad they revamped the engine a bit but hope they kept all the good stuff in!

Very cool. I used to play this game a ton with my roommates back when it was new. We have all moved on and live in different cities now, but maybe I can get them together for a few evening of playing this again.

Very good news!

Now, all I need is Rise of Nations, just why on Earth is RoN still not on either Steam or GoG.com to this day is quite beyond me.

...which apparently includes a complete, never-released, and never-known RoN Tactics game for Mac. :hmm:

I can't bite for 24 dollars. Its a 12 year old game. Get that thing under 10 bucks, at most.

Meh.

I been playing it constantly since I got the disc version in 2005. Usually one, sometimes 2 skirmishes a day.

I guess the Steam version would allow me to finally have a decent MP experience.

Thanks for the heads up! Definitely getting this, even at this price. I payed more for shitty games before. At least I know this one's good.

Pre-loading this morning. Game goes live in 6 hours. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play until I get home.

Agreed. Not to belittle AOM, but personally I would jump on a steam version of RON. Age of mythology was good as well, but seems too expensive for the steam version. I actually tried to fire up RON a few weeks ago, but couldn't find the CD.

I remember when I was newer to games, I got the RoN demo disc in a pc gamer mag. I played it for like 15 hours which was huge for me back then.

Well, that sucks, as the re-release made a big deal of the updated graphics.

Some things have been updated, but there's no getting around the fact that this was their first 3D game (compared to the 2D beauty of Age of Empires II) so you're going to have low quality textures and blocky unit models.

They are updated, but not stellar. Theres an increase to the ground texture quality, including bump-mapping, and they added all kinds of lighting effects and occlusion which definitely give the game a different feel.

But yeah, if you look closely its pretty much the same.
