Yes, ANOTHER 30" monitor thread...

Let's say I get the 30" NEC and just stick with my single GTX 570 for now...

Can I play most games in native resolution with graphics settings in games at say MEDIUM?

I know Crysis probably isn't possible but games like Dead Space 2, Borderlands, Call of Duty, you get the idea FPS games...

Even at MEDIUM is it likely to look better than my 1920x1200 even at the highest settings?

Thanks for any input...

you should be able to play just about anything on medium with that setup, and can probably do so on high settings. just keep the AA to 2x or 4x depending upon game and be prepared to tweak a few individual settings here and there.

No problem running 2560x1600 in many of my games and I run a gtx 460 1GB. Some older games I can play on high or very high quality, some newer ones, yup medium works great.

Good lord! That monitor is like 1600-1800+! For that money you could get the zr30w for the resolution *and* the hn274h for the 120hz when it comes out... Unless you are doing photo or video editing I will go out on a limb and say there is no way it's worth buying the nec. But that's just my opinion, maybe you're getting it on sale?

CompUsa has it for $999, but open box and the extended warranty is $199 and then there is tax, I should have gotten the Dell at 25% off...LOL!

Yeah, if those freakin' 120hz would come out I would get one!

yes I am very confuse to about this 30 inch monitors to, I want the best and Brian say in his review NEC PA301W-BK-SV is the best of all 30 inch monitors!? so........ I need you help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Depends on the games you play but the ones you listed should play just fine at 1600p with medium to high settings. My 5850@1000/1200 (approximately equal to a GTX 570) has issues with STALKER and Crysis at even medium settings. It just wasn't very smooth. Part of that was lack of vram so your extra 280MB should come in handy.

My only caveat with a 30" monitor is the fact you have to upgrade more often if you play graphics intensive games. It can get spendy. Other than that though I think you'll be very pleased at the size difference. Games are more immersive and running multiple windows while multi-tasking is easier.
