<< All-in-all, the Florida Supreme Court had many options of action. They decided to rewrite statutes and usurp the authority of an elected official, authority that was granted by law. That's the issue I have, and hopefully the US Supreme Court will rule on that matter so I can read through what they present as the support for their conclusions (I disagree that the Florida Supreme Court had to chose what it did and their arguments did not sway me). >>

Their decision didn't surprise me. I thought that the right of a recount would win out over the rather early election deadline. There was still more time.

Red Dawn - actually the standards for admittance have been raised. In a close decision, it was decided that older members like you that don't meet the new, higher standards should be allowed to stay under a "grandfather" clause.

Michael

ps - I've been a member about as long as Red. I heard that I also didn't meet the new standards but Michael was such a common name that excluding me would have been too hard to deal with (although, if I'm right, that would have taken care of me and Red Dawn at the same time).

OK, I don't know if there is anything illegal going on as far as the recounts go or not......I'm not there! But, here's a reasonable question.......Why does anyone whom thinks he still has a chance of winning the recount he called for and won a right to in the FL Supreme Court announce 3 days ahead of certification that he will not concede if he loses this recount? I said it the other day, and I'll say it again, I make my living dealing with numbers & averages.....I've been back there again today, and I'm saying that IMHO, there is no way the V.P. can make up this ground with the votes left to count, and that's not even adding in the 43 votes Bush has already picked up! I firmly believe other people know this too....(Gores team) thus, the announcement made yesterday! Look, it's gotten to the point, I just want it over, I can see how and why they both want to win, but my God, look what it is doing to our country! I do have to add though, I think the V.P. will hurt himself very badly overall if this recount does indeed end up going against him and he does what he announced he would do yesterday! It's no longer the "will of the people" either way.....it's the fight of will between the Bush team & Gore Team!

Sounds like Gore MIGHT protest the Miami-Dade vote, since they decided not to finish the recount, and go back to their original count.

And at this point, it sounds like a POSSIBLE protest......

Yes Red, I agree, but Gore has already stated bluntly that he will not concede regardless of the outcome of this recount he won! As for the Miami/Dade issue, I read the law concerning this issue last night. According to the law, and the appealt court they, or any county has the right to refuse a recount and, the law states clearly that it is to their discresion and that their decision is lawful and binding. I still bet this is going to end up in Congress, I wouldn't think the V.P. would want that at any cost!

I conceed, the democrats have always bested the republicans at lying & cheating.

I thought I was only known for the "popcorn surprise". It will be welcome relief on my pocketbook, not having to buy glasses for them girls before the date, just so they can see the "surprise".

Red, once again, I agree, but, at least in my eyes, they're both equally as bad as the other! My point is, I believe the V.P. is just nailing the door shut on his coffin! I know he is most likely doing his advisors bidding, but at what point does one step aside and say, "hey, this is not going to be good for me either way!" he's backing himself into a "no win situation" corner the way it seems.

Al Gore's lawyers say he won't concede defeat in the presidential election if certified hand recount totals show George W. Bush has more votes in Florida, but instead will contest the results in heavily Democratic Miami-Dade County where the recount was canceled.

Red, your rhetoric is not helping.

Well, I guess all things have to come to an end.......sorry Red, can't agree with you on that......IMHO both "spin" machines have been working overtime! Just seems that some of the V.P.'s choices has of late are doing much more to damage him in the eyes of the public than Bush's. I will admitt, it seems Republicans are much more passionate about their candidate. There was a CBS poll the other day which showed that about 2/3rd's of the Republicans would not accept a Gore administration and only 5% had changed their minds in regards to the vote they had cast for Gov. Bush. On the Democratic side, only 1/8th of the persons polled said that they would not accept a Bush administration but, 23% said that they had changed there minds about their vote for V.P. Gore! Doesn't look good either way, but I think that considering all aspects, you will have to agree that V.P. Gore will/would have a much rougher time of it than Gov. Bush.

Broward county now magically up to 266 net gain for Goreby and, according to CNN, there are still 1600 HMM...this must be a Gore vote ballots left to count. Well, let's see now: That means they managed to "find" a net of 148 for Goresky out of 400 checked.

That doesn't quite work out to a 60/40 ratio.

Russ, don't you mean 206? That's what CNN has as the "latest" totals on my screen.

You're right again, it works out to 68.5% for Gore (274 Gore, 126 Bush, if ALL 400 were discerned) I used your numbers for Broward County.

The 60/40 was just a rough guess on my part. Actually original vote split Gore/Bush in Broward County shows 68.6% for Gore. In Palm Beach the Gore/Bush split shows 63.4% for Gore.

Now, one might assume similar splits for the disputed ballots if they were a ramdom representation of the split of voters in the two counties. That may or may not be. I only mentioned the 60/40 to show that Gore was likely to gain votes on the disputed ballots, of which, I believe many have not shown up in counts yet.

ToBeMe,

You're looking at the combined for all Counties in play. Broward is now actually up to 280 net gain for Gore.

History is full of thugs that attempted to enslave Men by offering to provide their every need.

Pharaoh, Pontius Pilot, Alexander, Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Clinton and Gore......must know that men of Wisdom do not look to them for provision. These Outlaws have managed to dupe Men who are weak, silly, foolish and easy to command. Sadly, these votes have allowed these thugs to do much damage, in History.

Washington , Jefferson, Franklin and men today of like mind......will continue to hold the feet of these twisted "leaders" to the fire....in order to maintain Liberty... for the innocent...:)

The debate over the role of government is as old as the Garden, and that is, will Men be guided from the Voice within? Or, from the exterior....... by a smooth and devious, Overlord.

The devious and cunning plan hatched by Gore and his dupes, is very clever. However, there is no dispute that Bush has won 2 recounts, that were above reproach.

Men of Honor are bound by that Honor....however, in times of War, there is only one objective, and that is Victory.

The Founding Fathers of this Nation left the tools of Victory for Men of Honor to squash the maneuvers of the Outlaw, the Constitution.
