Oddly I could care less if you feel that way, the proof IS out there but I'm too apathetic to bother. How many times will how many different people have to say it before your closed mind gets a clue?

ATI's late with the X1900 driver support but the cards do work. nVidia had a similar problem with support for their 6800's for nearly 6 months after releasing the cards. This is still a huge negative for ATI at the moment, but to say that ATI's drivers just plain suck is wrong. I think the biggest problem right now is the bloat in their CCC and the lack of full X1900 support. However, if you go back to the last two years, ATI has been roughly on par with nVidia as far as drivers go.

I'm sure you can dig up more than a few examples of problematic installations on ATI's side. Guess what? The same digging will net you problems with nVidia as well if you care to look.

Most driver installations are problematic due to ATI and nVidia not properly removing all old traces of video card drivers. That's why Driver Cleaner was invented, to clean up after ATI and nVidia.

At the moment, I'd have to say nVidia has the better display drivers, but during the X800 vs 6800 time frame, I actually thought ATI had the better drivers. But again, to say that ATI drivers are crap is just perpetuating a myth. Most people using ATI drivers are doing so just fine with no crashes. Just like most people using nVidia drivers are doing so just fine with no crashes.
