It just amazes me people get so worked up about this. Is it funny? If your panties aren't on too tight, yeah, it's funny. The real issue is, for those who laugh, why are they laughing? If it's someone who just appreciates some word play, likes a good zing, it should be a humorous bumper sticker. If it's some racist dude, he's laughing for an entirely different reason. I just do not get these uptight whiners who automatically jump to the conclusion that because someone would find this humorous, that they're automatically a racist.

I found a lot of the anti-Bush propaganda funny, even if I thought it wrong/delusional. Cannot people feel the same about this?

It's not good word play though. I can appreciate the humor in a racist joke if it's actually worded well; for example, the government housing joke in this thread. It's racist and shouldn't be condoned, but I can see the humor in it. There's no clever word play in the bumper sticker; renege means the exact opposite of what they're using it as. You can tell that the thought process was "Renege? That kinda sounds like re-nig! Like a black guy, only twice! Ha ha, aren't I clever?" But if you replace the obviously racist "re-nig" (which is both spelled wrong and also hyphenated so as to make no allusion to meaning anything apart from re- "n word"), the word play falls apart because the word renege is meaningless in that sentence. Don't renege 2012? What the fuck does that mean? Don't go back on a promise in 2012? Like everyone was promising to vote for Romney in 2008 but missed? It doesn't work. The "clever" word play is nothing more than noticing that renege sounds vaguely like part of a racial slur.

Hey, I've got some clever word play. Do a photoshop of Obama as the cowardly lion from the Wizard of Oz. The caption: The Niggardly Lyin'. See what I did? Niggardly isn't racist (it means the same thing as cowardly), it just SOUNDS racist. And he's a liar, so he's "LYIN" instead of "LION." Get it? It's clever on so many levels! But really, it's only "clever" because niggardly sounds DAMNED close to the n-word, and that's what racists have wanted to call Obama for years. That's not clever, it's simple-minded bigotry, some sort of primitive mentality that you're superior because you have lighter skin.

That's nice and all, but, this bumper sticker is obviously making a racist wordplay. That's what makes it funny, the non-PC nature of it.

It'd be the same thing as a bumper stick of an alter boy giving a priest a BJ with the title: Catholic School: It Blows.

Can't we all just snicker at it, and go on with life? Does something so fleeting and minor deserve so much attention?

Niggardly means cheap, stingy, unwillind to pay what's due. So clever not found in your post.

No, the alterboy sticker has truth on its side about a shameful practice, a Clever shorting of "Don't Re-nig***" does not.

I called a poster at another forum for what I considered a racist thread title.
It was a copy/paste of some spurious BS from the tea party bloggers about Obama setting up martial law should he lose the election. Whatever.
The title was "Under the Color of Darkness".
Now I saw that as some not so clever wordplay around the common phrase "under the cover of darkness".

D'oh! You're right, my apologies, blew that one. It's still about as clever as the bumper sticker in question; it doesn't mean what was intended and only works in the minds of people who think the n-word is a good punchline on its own.

This. Yes, it's obviously a racist joke but it doesn't make you a racist because you snicker at it. However, someone would have to be pretty dumb to put that on their car.

lawlz found; thank you OP.

I don't like the negative influence the socially detrimental force that implied racial slurs have, particularly when directed against our president who is one of the smartest, most eloquent and hard working people we've ever had for president.

But if you didn't laugh you need to clear the sand from your genitalia.

'Sneaking the N word' isn't funny. And yes, it should be criticized.

Ya, the history of racism against whites and blacks is about the same. Humor has never been used a a form of hate speech against blacks... N***** LOL hahahahahaha

What exactly is the term 'white guilter' trying to say, that nothing is offensive?

So if you call every black person the n word and a my excellent compatriot, and tell them they should go back to Africa and live with the rest of the farm animals and slavery should be brought back...

It's perfectly ok, and anyone who finds that objectionable is a 'white guilt' person?

That's the only meaning I can tell from the term - it's implying that all objections to any hate speech are baseless, just like "Bush Derangement Syndrome' meant Bush was perfect.

If you want to say 'oh no, that's not what you mean, you only mean SOME things that are overly sensitive', not one word you have posted says that, you imply ANYTHING is ok.

It's just a throwaway attack you can use to attack all people who criticize hate speech.

Reminds me of the civil rights era name '*N***** lover' for any white who supported equal rights rather than white supremacy - racists could say that like it proved them right.

You're looking like crap here, immoral and bigoted and a warrior for hate. Admit it? Or care to back off the defense of hate?

WHy quote me and say that? I just said I was white, not a minority.

He didn't say it because of your race.

One of the most false statements in the English language is "I just said..."

While 95% of what's said here about liberals is wrong or lies, I think it might be a higher percent of things that are false following those three words.

LOL at the Wall O' White Guilt. Sorry there sig self quoter (twice no less, your delusion is boundless it seems), I've seen - and experienced - so much more racism/racist actions from minorities there is about zero you could whine on about that would ever make me think I should somehow worry about a stupid Fing bumper sticker and how that could be perceived by minorities.

Here's a hint white boy: These minorities you do your best to White Guilt/Bleeding Heart over are more racist then I could ever aim to be. Keep getting played by thinking we need to just blow more money and time one them, and one day, they'll magically be better. Asians, Indians, Chinese, hard working Mexicans, hard working Blacks have proved you wrong literally every step of the way. That every one of these groups is hugely racist just makes your whine even more laughable.

Whine louder...

He called me a racist. The most racist groups, by FAR, are minorities. Which is why I dont know why he's quoting me, since I'm white.

Im half wop.
I guess I just insulted myself :D

Seriously, the guy that made that bumper sticker should be sent to a soviet gulag untill he learns to play along well with other races.
