Yeah, more racial bigotry

I think the more telling side of this story is something that I've seen happening in this country for years - few people are able to have any type of discourse or argument in a friendly manner. Most people choose sides and stick to them, offering nothing more than personal attacks, yelling and name calling. If you don't fully agree with the other party then you are viewed as an enemy.

What happened to the days when people could pick a topic to argue about and try to gain insight and ask questions? Now it seems as though any argument culminates in nasty rhetoric, chest pushing and general bashing.

I blame it on the internet. This is what happens when someone forgets how to have a polite discussion.
 
I doubt it. I'm sure you'd have plenty of defenders in the NY Post editorial room, you'd even get extra special hero status if you dropped N-bombs while punching the black chick.

You know you can take a break from victimized white man syndrome every once in a while.
 
I think you should test your theory - punch a black woman in the face and let us know if your mock outrage is mirrored with the real thing.

Our black president signed that crap, let's make sure he believes in it. If you can't reverse the roles and do the exact same thing - that's racist and a double standard.
 
I don't understand how this became a further race issue. It is about double standards.

A white man punches a black woman over racism = hate crime.
A black man punches a white woman over racism = not a good choice.

Equality doesn't mean one group who was subjugated by another is now above reproach. One of the biggest reasons that this country still deals with racism is because of this attitude.
 
What's so wrong, after 400 years of getting fucked, that Black People get to punch a few white people for free? Any real crack down, don't ya think, ought to wait till after America pays reparations?

Black people of today are entitled to nothing from other citizens of today. We are not responsible for our ancestors any more than our children are responsible for us. We're MAKING them responsible by leaving them debt and nationalism, but it's not the RIGHT thing to do.
 
Is hate crime a law or isn't it? Do laws apply to everyone or just a select few? This assault on a co worker, when he pushed her and then punched her in the face during a discussion about race qualifies as a hate crime, as violence against a woman and i would think a hostile work environment in the future. As much as some folks want to defend this guy from punching out a women as the result of a racial disagreement, it's a hate crime and should be prosecuted as such.

How is what I said racist? My post was about double standards, not racism.

Personally I don't know if this was a hate crime. I doubt he punched her because she was white...he probably punched her because he disagreed with her about a topic (which happened to be racism.) See my first post in the thread.

You calling my a racist is more of a problem than my actual predilection for any race. You perceive me as a racist now, and so treat me differently, even though I am not racist.

What about the fact that Black Folk have to eat shit all their lives and White folk are never exposed day after day to racial stereotyping. Don't you think Black Folk should be allowed to go crazy at least once a year or so and maybe punch a lot of people?

How fair are you to ask what you yourself have never had to deliver? Let's have the world follow you around for half a lifetime insulting you and see how you do controlling your rage. You may be able to give better instructions on how to manage yourself constructively as advise to others.

Are you saying that the previous mistreatment of blacks entitles them to be immune to certain laws? Isn't that the very definition of racism - treating a group of individuals differently based upon race?

You cannot fight racism with racism.

That is precisely what he, and many other people in this thread are saying. They are the enablers that allow this nonsense to continue. It's amazing how foolish some people can be. It's as though their brains just liquify into pools of ignorance whenever race becomes an issue. Sad, but true. Everyone knows this.
