So, a little background:

My weight seems to jump every couple of years. I was like 185 for three years and then I started going to the gym and, it just sorta shot to around 193-195. It stayed there until about two, two and a half years ago, when I started taking creatine (more on that in a sec) and it shot to 208-210. It's been like that ever since. Sure, if I get sick, or miss a ton of workouts, it'll get down to 203, and I think the heaviest I've ever been was 212 (I'm over 6'4", by the way), but it's pretty much been stable for awhile.

I've been doing a SS routine for about a year now, and while I gotten quite a bit stronger, I haven't gained much (any?) weight. I know I need to eat more, but I [usually] do eat quite a bit.

So, back to Creatine. I took a 12 week cycle of CellMass. Like I said, it seemed to work. I didn't lose the weight after I went off it, and I certainly looked bigger. Downsides to CellMass are a). it's expensive. 12 weeks to three or four tubs, and they're about $40 a pop and b). it has these draconian directions (I.e. 30 minutes after your workout but 1 hour before and 2 hours after you eat or something like that, and one dose has to be 8 hours before/after the last, etc). It just makes it hard if you don't have an etched-in-stone workout routine. Mine is pretty regular, but anyone with a job/life occasionally has to re-arrange things. It also sucks to come home from the gym, starving, and take the stuff and not be able to eat anything for 30 mins or an hour or whatever it is. When I took it, I was pretty strict with those requirements (I figured I was paying for the good stuff, might as well take full advantage). I know some people thing CEE are a waste of money, and they prefer the monohydrate, but the money -- if there really is a difference -- isnt' the end of the world for me. If it's better, that's fine.

Anyway, so I've had "good" results with that, and will do it again if needed, but I just wanted to see what the rest of you thought.

One last question: Should you mix CEE with protein shakes? I remember being told not to. But it's fine with monos, right? Wrong? No? Profit?

Thanks!

Creatine Monohydrate is one of the most tested supplements out there. Creatine Ethyl Esther, Creatine Malate/Citrate, liquid creatine, etc. are all marketing tactics. There are differences in creatines though. Mostly there are 2 types that I know of German and Chinese. Chinese is crappier but still works. Most people use "Creapure".
CellMass is overpriced for what you get, but it will work. I'm not going to dismiss it as crap, but for a lot less money you could buy 1 kilogram creatine monohydrate and a bunch of dextrose. Better yet, just take your creatine with some grape juice or simple sugars (avoid citrus juices with it though).

For 3.5 tubs of CellMass costing roughly $140 for 12 weeks, I'd buy (all prices from Nutraplanet) :

1 kilo creatine mono - $13
500g beta-alanine - $21
1 kilo BCAA (branch chain amino acids) - $40
500g Citrulline Malate - $45
15lb dextrose - $25 or 2 @ 3.3 pounds Wazy Maize Starch - $26

$144

You get WAAAAYY more bang for your buck there guarenteed!

You wanna stay cheaper, leave out the citulline Malate and you're looking at roughly $100 for at LEAST a 100 day supply there.
