Yeah, NY earned quite a bit more from me this year than last. More crime, potholes, less service from Mass Transit...etc. What the hell are they doing with all the money?

Double more than me, getting $6 back from Illinois.

on the plus side at least we are getting back money instead of paying. My oldest has to pay something like $20 state and $300 federal. lol poor girl.

Il is usually really good at getting very close to zero. I don't think i have ever had a refund or payment to them for more then $250

Oh yeah and the county hasn't salted the roads this year! sure they have plowed but they haven't salted! bastards. i gotta go drive in this shit. maybe they have done it since 10am when i went into town.

With what seems to be s sales 10% tax, on at least food, I am getting ripped off and not even paying income tax to the state of Ill 🙁

Getting back much more than expected, even though I adjusted my withholding down last year. College tuition credit and last second IRA contributions. Should be around $5,400 when I finally get to file, which will be mid-February because of of the IRS delays because of fiscal cliff crap.

It was mighty white nice of you to give them an interest free loan...

I've never understood that POV. According to statistics, most people are terrible are finances and would just spend whatever little extra would come in their paychecks every month anyway, so getting a mini-windfall every year seems like a way better option for the majority of Americans.

Plus it stimulates the economy because everyone goes out and buys giant flatscreen TV's

i agree. i don't mind giving them a "free" loan for a few K. not that the extra what $50 is going to kill me.

I like getting the small check. i use it to get something i usually wouldn't buy. such as TV's, or something like that.

This year i'm using it on a down payment for a van (full size if i can find one).

Did he have another thread recently where he implied turning over a new leaf so as to not get vacationed again.😕

comon it's not that bad a thread. nothing worth getting banned over. now i agree he won't last the year though :awe:

lol i thought i was bad at predicting how much they should take out.

i can never get it right. but i would rather get some then pay!

Well, I increased my 401K last year and also switched to a HSA insurance account. The extra tax free money really boosted the refund.

What county are you in? They've been salting like crazy here at the edge of Cook and Kane.

If those were taken out automatically, shouldn't that have been an automatic change in your payroll taxes taken out?

I hear that vans in NJ and NYC ate selling fairly cheap nowdays.

Maybe worth the haul

They cleaned up very quickly today here in Cook/Lake area down to O'Hare. Much better that last week Friday AM mess.

No, we would have to decrease the number of dependents listed or something. After all of our deductions our effective tax rate hovers between 0% and 2%.
