What kind of games do you like?! If action's your thing, I'd wait for Splinter Cell. GOTY contender IMHO. : )

I refuse to buy the Live Kit. I hate subscription services 🙁 If Xbox would allow me to play without a fee, ala battle.net, I would pay the one-time fee of 49.99 for the service or support Live-enabled game prices being raised a little to account for their costs.

Ok I have $200 from my birthday Monday and nowhere to spend it! I haven't been keeping up with new releases, what's the best new game for the XBOX? I have played the old hat Halo and Morrowind already so those won't do...

Ya, and they should pay you to play their games too.I didn't. That changes things, but I still think they should give lifetime access once you buy the system and games.

That changes things, but I still think they should give lifetime access once you buy the system and games.MS has to pay for the bandwidth you know, not to mention the upkeep of all the servers. I'm sure MS is going to be using some OC3+ lines or something crazy like that to support all the online users. Rest assure, when you pay that big ass $50/yr, you'll get all the bandwidth you can handle. That alone is worth $50/yr! Sh!t, PC gamers playing Everquest are paying $12 per MONTH to play that game ALONE! I think one year free plus $50/yr after that is a pretty damn good deal!![]()
Oh, holy sh!t, they are supporting ONE game! That is AWESOME! Do you actually think before you post? MS is supporting ALL games that are built for XBox Live! You pay $50/per year and you get to play WHATEVER game you'd like with it (XBox Live compatible). Not to mention all the bandwidth you can handle and built in voice support. The only people that are stupid are the ones that can't understand the infrastucture behind this and what kind of money it takes to support it. If you don't want to pay, keep playing single player. And Diablo, Warcrarft and Starcraft users pay ZERO to play online whenever they want. So what I want to know is, why in the hell would you pay a monthly fee to play a game online when you don't have to? Blizzard has shown free online gaming can be done, and anyone who pays for the priveledge is stupid.

I think by different games, he meant "from different publishers," which is a whole other ball of wax.Originally posted by: wyvrn
That would not be one game, it would be three.
Economies of scale help here, since Bizzard is seeing the money from the sale of the games directly, and they can use a common infrastructure to support 3 games, rather than having to build a separate infrastructure for a single gameThe cost of the servers to run these games are payed for by buying the game.
Examples? If Blizzard (and other game manufacturers
Why? According to what you yourself JUST said, the initial cost of purchasing Everquest should be all that's required.) can do this, why can't Microsoft? I can see why it's required for Everquest because it's strictly an online game,
How does that statement help prove your point in any way, shape, or form?but games that have a single player element also get money from people who only play the single player aspect.
Ummmmm....OK. Still not sure how you've proved your point...which I believe is "Game publishers should foot all the costs of online play and not charge monthly fees ever." I think 😕That's the way I view it, and I will not ever pay a recurring subscribtion cost for any game.
Isn't this just like what many people do with the built-in multiplayer support on the Xbox, if they so wish? Doesn't cost a dime to do that, last time I checked. If I wanted multi-player gaming, my friends and I can setup a LAN tournament like we have done many times in the past.
If you feel that way, fine. This thread obviously isn't discussing something you are interested in. Is it so hard to just move on, rather than being rude? 😕Subscription services can kiss my ass and so can you 😀
