So I've decided to try my hand at a healing class.
I can't stand playing priests because... of well.. something that happened a while ago
I tried a druid, but feral spec was just too damn tempting,
so here I am with a pally.
All in all, I actually find the class to be pretty fun. My main is a lvl60 hunter in a raiding guild, so playing something besides a DPS class is pretty refreshing at times. I don't know if this is a novity that will eventually wear off, but i've been enjoying it.
grouping and party play have been great so far - it's strangely satisfying when you land a critical heal on the tank, able to keep that mage up while he's AoEing the crap out of everything (BoP wins), and giving out some of the best buffs in the game (though at this point, i'm limited to might and wisdom).
I'm still learning the ropes of everything though, trying to balance out mana efficiency and healing, still learning which heals to cast, and when (my last group run I was over 30% in overhealing), and how to not pull agro via healing.
Solo play though, makes me want to stab myself.
I just CANNOT kill things fast enough to make any reasonable progress. eg. last night, I had to go deep into this orge camp to retrive some crate. I was stalled half way in because they were respawning as fast as I was killing them.
I'm using a 1h mace + shield combo atm, I tried switching to a heavy 2h, which does up my damage quite a bit, but then I find myself healing half the time i'm fighting.
I finally just sucked it up and re spec'd some points into the retribution tree, up until seal of command, so maybe that will help a bit, but I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet. I'm definately missing my nearly uninterruptable heals from holy spec though.
So any high lvl pallys out there? any advice for leveling?
To me, the retribution tree looks like it could help out, but I also find it useless for grouping, as I don't even put up seals and judgements while in a party (no JoW / JoL yet). The protection tree doesn't even make sense to me as I still don't really understand shield mechanics (block value? wtf?)
