[YAV(acuum)T]: Bought a Dyson Vacuum...

eits

Lifer
bought it for $25 off craigslist. easily the best investment i've made in a while.

this vacuum is SO sweet. it picks up absolutely everything. the dogs are shedding now and drop a ton of hair into the carpets that my other vacuum cleaner wouldn't pick up.

for those who are curious, i got the dc07. i think emptying the canister is one of the more fun things about this cleaner.

...and people complaint about craigslist all the time here... $25 is a very sweet deal...

Craigslist is great if you have the patience. I completely gutted and remodeled 2 bathrooms for under $3000 using craigslist.

I got a brand new, in box granite vanity top, kohler undermount sink, and pegasus bronze faucet for $100 (from 3 different sellers).

Got a brand new, in box kohler pedestal sink for $60.

It took me about 6 months to collect all the items, but I got about $4000 worth of stuff on craigslist for less than $1000. The rest I got from lowes at high discount for being returned or special order returned items or "damaged" items.

that's a SWEET deal! I bought a refurb DC17 Animal from woot for like 299. And I thought I got a pretty good deal...

Just tell us how you got the good deal.
No one would sell a Dyson for $25 unless it was broken.

Did you fix it?

Nice. I miss my dyson vacuum, lost it in the divorce. I will eventually own another one. Once you experience the awesomeness of a Dyson, it's hard to go back to regular vacuums.

I think I have the 07 too. Got it off Woot for $250 I think.

I love my Dyson too.

But not physically. That would hurt.

definitely. they were moving to china and had to get rid of stuff. i bought their 50inch dlp tv with brand new bulb for $450 and their dyson for $25.

Thinking of buying a DC28 Animal for ~370. Wife and I are getting tired of junk cleaners. Anybody have experience with the DC28?

I don't understand why CR rates Dysons so low compared to others. Everybody I know who has one loves it.

It probably was used to clean up / hide the evidence after BoomerD snuck into Old's basement.

Oh come on now. Everyone knows you need an initial sweep of a mulching shop vac an then a second pass with a wet/dry vac to clean up after a party in Old's basement.

Nice, grats on the DC07. I have the handheld Dyson and it's absolutely the best handheld vacuum cleaner I've ever seen.

Hey now...no one saw a thing...It wasn't me...You can't prove anything...I wasn't there...

well, at least I THINK I cleaned all the DNA evidence out of that thing...:hmm:

I shit you not this: http://www.amazon.com/Bissell-6700-B.../dp/B0000638TI was probably one of my best purchases. Now I don't have carpets, all mexican tile and area rugs...but this unit was only $55 at the time and is turning 10 years old.

It was one of the early 'dust cup' styles from Samsung and Bissell bought out the line when they pulled out of vacuums in the US.

My wife is really used to canister styles.

That said my parents have two Dysons, one upstairs and one down...they are excellent.

We have a DC14 Animal. Best damned vacuum we've had in 35+ years of marriage. FAR better than the spendy Electrolux canister it replaced.

I have it works well. Things to get stuck in it though, particularly where the debris goes into the basket.
