FYI:
Also, pacing (clocking you with his speedometer), is the most bulletproof way for an officer to cite you for speeding. Radar has many loopholes and uncertainties........pacing does not.
However, you might get lucky and not have the officer show up.....in which case you win by default. Not likely, but worth a shot if beating this ticket is worth the time you will lose trying this.
Actually, its my understanding that police/CHP aren't suppose to use radar on the freeways in most of LA. Pacing is the only way to verify speed unless you're going some ridiculous speed. I actually had a CHP unit pull next to me once while doing about 80 in the fast lane (10 east near Robertson). I caught him in the mirror and just let off the gas. He dropped back and ended up pulling over the guy behind me (still don't know why). Anyway, you can still contest pacing; accuracy of the speedo, etc.
I also heard that what's happening now is that when officers are called to court they will usually group them together. For example, if Officer Smith has 10 tickets that are being contested, the trials will all be scheduled for the same day so Smith can show up and take care of all of them, making better use of his time.
Anyway, YMMV on this one.
