Turned my speakers all the way up and it's obviously static. when I pause, nothing, when I play, static and a sound like the tv in the other room.

logitechs cant reproduce the sound well
should have stuck with klipsch for this test
heh i o no cant hear regardless

the static is probably your speakers being turned up.

If you have a low quality sound card and speakers, you will hear static if you turn the volume up.
That said, I opened up the wav in soundforge, and it was, unsurprisingly, and empty sound file

Yup.

To make the sound I opened Windows Sound Recorder and 'recorded' for a few seconds without a microphone connected to the computer.

I'm guessing he created this thread just to fvck with you guys. In the end, he'll say there was no sound, it was just an empty WAV file and he did it just to see your reactions. Classic EON7 moment.

Edit: Crap. Didn't read the posts above....grr.

Nope didnt hear anything. I think it might be because I dont have any speakers hooked up to this PC. Ill call the HelpDesk in the morning and ask them whats wrong.

A post from the friendly OP from a different thread in ATOT:

I always wonder the truth in internet message boards. I always see people calling other peoples bluffs and "shens" so to speak.

So i was thinking, why not make a fake "quick" IQ test, and everyone who finishes it gets an "average" score regardless of the answers. (it will change, but overall everyone will be int he same bracket).

After a couple days worth of posts, call everyone out who lied about their score. It would be great fun! ]

So do you think it would work?

Yes, it would work.

I've done a few polls like that on online forums. Most recently there was the batch of threads on ATOT asking people if they could hear sounds at high frequencies. I loaded up a completely blank sound file and asked if people could hear the sound. It wasn't 100% 'no' votes. 😉

You have all been pnwed

It's not an empty sound file.

Open it up in Goldwave. It outputs sound between 15-240Hz, with an initial spike of 2k.

i vote no but it's static. i looked at it with nero wave editor and the line is pretty much flat. after raising the volume by from 7 to 30db twice i heard static. if that counts then yes. otherwise no. and it's nothing. i did here the mosquito sound from the other thread.
