*OFFICIAL* 99% of BestBuy's employees have the IQ of a houseplant and the customer service drive of the guy that cleans the grease fryer at Jack in the Box. :|
After this morning's phone conversation (below) I got aggravated and went to the store. I asked for a MOD. (Manager on Duty...not "mod" :Q)
I explained my situation and showed her the raincheck. She just happened to be the "Product Manager" for the store. That's what her nametag said anyway.
She went and pulled their latest inventory. They showed 7 drives in stock, yet none were on the shelves and none were in the raincheck hold area.
Hmm. She went looking and lo-and-behold, they were all stashed under some obscure counter behind a bunch of keyboards. Nice.
The whole time, the guy I spoke w/this morning was standing there w/his thumb up his @ss going "wow...look at that....where'd those come from?"
Apparently, WD changed the packaging. (from the cardboard box to the clear plastic package you have to cut open). Ergo, the SKU number changed so when JohnnyTeenAngst was searching, of course it showed "no stock."
INSTEAD OF CHECKING TO SEE IF THEY HAD GOTTEN IN ANY 120GB WD's all he searched on was the SKU.
The manager apologized, we BSd for awhile, I paid and left.
240GB of storage for $160, plus a 3-year warranty. Not bad.
Thanks to those that listened to me complain. AT: my free Psychotherapy.

Yet Another Screwed By Best Buy Thread. (Did I invent a new acronym, BTW? )
Three weeks ago, Best Buy was selling the 120GB WD SE drives for $80, no MIRs. They sold out .5 seconds after opening their doors on Sunday. I got a raincheck for two. I've called twice a week to check on them. They got a truck in last night; no drives.
The guy I spoke to today told me:
He told me that my only recourse would be to either try to get them online (how the heck do I get the online system to honor my raincheck price?) or to drive up to the Austin stores and see if they have any.
Can someone advise me what to do w/this situation?

Well Sir, it doesn't look like we will be getting any, anymore in our district. WD has discontinued that model line and we were selling them at that price just to get them out the door. We will not be getting any more of those.
