catholics are christian.
Protestant Christians (protestant is derived from the word Protest and they were Protesting the abuses of the Catholic Church) so by the nature of their history you would expect to see some kind of dislike for each other, no?

The Catholic church is a lot like the US. A political powerhouse and not scared to throw it's weight around and push it's opinions.
Many other countries don't like the U.S. because of that. Same as with the Catholic church. A lot of other religious branches don't like it because they don't like the clout and pull that the Catholic Church has.

it's actually because protestants are HATERS
well, my chicks family is mormon and i know why some of them dont like the catholic church: mary. the catholics sort of deify her (and many others, there are things that could be considered idols).
personally, my problem with the catholic church is their accepting attitude toward a number of horrifiying things that have been done within their organization. and if they werent as powerful, this would be widely unacceptable behavior.

which other groups??
there are a few branches of christianity, but most christians fall under either Catholic or Protestant.
you might not know they are protestant but they are for example.
baptist
lutheran
episcopalian
7th day Adventist
Methodist
Church of God
Church of Christ
there are more but i just can't think of them at the moment.

there has always been a suspicion of catholics in political office because of the strong presence catholics have traditionally had in govt. catholics have no problems using govt to enforce moral code. Most protestants and most americans are against that.

a bit oversimplifed version of 600 yrs of history wouldn't you say?
Catholics tried very aggressively to stamp out Protestantism. they commited some real atrocities to do so.

i think it's a bit stronger than just Disagree.
i'd say there is a strong suspicion and even a slight paranoia when it comes to protestants and catholics.
Whats with all the hate? I have never EVER once gone to any church where the preacher got up and said you should hate the jews or you should hate the catholics. Christianity is about tolerance. I might disagree with some of what the jews or the catholics believe in, but I don't hate them for it. We all worship the same God. My godmother is jewish, and went to my baptism, and I don't recall anyone stoning her for it...
Quite wrong. And it is ridiculous to say that an entire group of people, especially one so large as the catholic church would have no problem to force their moral code on you. I find that statement incredible ignorant and offensive. And the reason there have been few catholic presidents historically is derived mainly from the strength of the Catholic church. People are afraid of losing the seperation of church and state. The protestant church is not nearly as strong/centralized/have the history of secular power as the catholic church, and that worries some people. I don't have time to individually go through and pick apart the rest of your arguments, just cross apply the example of JFK as a catholic president to any of your arguments, and move to justification.
