Why do so many people claim to be fervent followers or believers of what they claim to believe, yet don't have a clue what it means, or have objectively searched other religions, etc...?
They must come to one of two conclusions:
1. Theirs is the right one, they don't even have to study anything else - they just know it because that's what they're told to believe.
2. There are multiple truths or multiple Gods.
I know some Italians and Chinese who are Catholic because they were brought up Catholic, and they make the Catholic rituals such a central part of their lives, yet they know next to nothing about the Bible or care to read the Gospel. My co-worker even snapped at me when I asked her to explain why they baptize babies when they clearly cannot make the decision to accept Christ on their own.
You look in the Middle East with all the mess thats there, and gosh - I mean think of all the ignorant little kids taught to give their lives up for Jihad - and they have no way of knowing if the truth just *might* lie elsewhere...
Look also at the Jews - the Bible says they're the chosen ones... Ever heard of a Jewish missionary? It's not a religion - it IS an ethnicity...
My point is - why do so many people insist on following a faith just because they identify it with their ethnicity? Why don't they see that their ethnicity has nothing to do with it? What part of that makes it truthful? That's so arrogant.
As a Christian - I'm taught that it is about glorifying God. Even if you stand by your faith due to ethnic pride - its only about glorifying yourself.
Just my two cents - flame away...
