YANET: I received a "used" LiteOn DVD drive, is NewEgg.com going downhill?

So what they have isolated screw ups... they process something like 10,000 orders a day... a few just happened to get screwed up...
I agree with you but it seems that there has been a HUGE rash of screw-ups in the past 4 weeks or so.

I ordered some parts to make a computer for a friend, got the cheapest GF4 Ti4200, the Chaintech one. First one, DOA, second one, after a week of usage, dead! I'm sitting there with a "WTF?" look on my face...i've made 3 computers using parts from newegg and this is a first for me...

Thats NOT the problem I am having. The problem I am having is that customer service is not responding to me.

I've never once had a problem with NewEgg.

Ditto (knock on wood). I've ordered well over $1000 in parts from them. I just got something a couple of days ago and it was nicely packaged, and it was a keychain USB drive (cheap). Until something happens it's 1) Newegg 2)eBay 3) Other stores.

Good luck to all the people having trouble though, I know one of the moderators forwarded one of the threads to Newegg. Maybe they'll have a look and resolve these issues. Nothing like the Anandtech effect to scare a retailer!

No way am I shopping at NewEgg again. Why take risks? Newegg sounds more like Frys to me. I'm going to stick with googlegear now.

Mwave.com, Directron.com, and TCWO.com are both great places to order from as well.

Thanks, added them to my shopping list along with svc.com and googlegear.com(now unzipzoomfu... er zipzoomfly.com) 😀

Did he say it was neweggs fault?

Thats not reallly the point anyway. It's annoying when you get multiple defective parts from the same place, and as long as the place you buy them from is reasonable about the return process then I guess thats fine (unless it soars to ridiculous levels)

However, once again he didnt claim that this was neweggs fault.

Well I am about to order two more pc's, and usually about half the parts come from newegg. I built one about 2 weeks ago with parts from there with no problems...but now...I'm a bit hesitant to bother...I dont have the time or money to fiddle with bad parts or "used" parts sold as new.
