[Yet Another NewEgg Thread]

Just thought that I'd point out that I received a clearly "used" oem LiteOn DVD drive. The drive arrived with some scratch marks on the casing (like it had been previously installed in a case), and it had been repacked (i.e. the strip of tape used to close the bubble wrap around the drive had finger prints and paper all stuck to it). Also, the drive tray is a little loose, but the drive seems to work fine. This was my first order from them since about 2 months ago. Since then, I've heard quite a few horror stories about the company and their cust. service or lack thereof. Is NewEgg under new/crappy management??? I haven't been really keeping up w/ the PC scene since school has started so... what's the deal?

Please try to keep NewEgg fanboy comments to a minimum.

I've heard none of these stories and have yet to have any problems. Just send them an email or give them a call and they will take care of it.

I'm sure they will but the question we all have is why is this happening in the first place to multiple people in the past month or so, myself included? There is a long thread in the Motherboard forum about it.

An occasional 'Oops' is understandable, but the problem happening to MANY people all of the sudden (and not just people here) is plain out fraud.

*sigh* And I was hoping Newegg would keep their great policies. Looks like that's no longer the case. I've been for ages ordering everything from newegg. Guess I shouldn't anymore.

Anyone else know a place like newegg that can be trusted?

Mwave.com, Directron.com, and TCWO.com are both great places to order from as well.

I ordered a "refurbished" power supply from newegg. When it arrived it was visibly charred from being on fire. Having to fork out return shipping for that one really pissed me off.

You can try contacting service@newegg.com and asking for a refund of your shipping cost (you'll need to fax/scan your receipt), but I stress the fact that they only give shipping refunds out of "good faith", so don't hold your breath.

Anybody know which shipping location the used stuff came from, California, New Jersey, or both?

edit: 3rd grade level "don't use extra words, noun-verb agreement" grammar applied.

well, I've never had a problem with them and have only ever had to return 1 purchase from them that was there fault. They not only gave me a refund, they paid for my shipping back to them plus $5. I will continue to use them until I get screwed. I've heard worse stories about other places people seem to frequent.(tigerdirect, you know who you are!)

i've always thought newegg had some shady business practices. i can't believe they sell returned crap as "refurbished." that fact alone makes me not want to deal with them at all. now even new stuff is visibly used? come on. i don't understand why there are so many newegg fanboys on this site, i've heard customer service horror stories about newegg from the beginning.

I have had nothing but good service from them. I bought everything for my comp from them... I had the mobo go bad after a few months, but I thought my ram was the problem. I RMA'ed the ram to them and quickly recieved a new replacement. I then discovered that I had screwed up, and the mobo was really causing the problems, so I sent them an email explaining what had happened and they RMA'ed my mobo, no questions asked.

I am having a problem with them. They sent me an antec 1080 amg case with a doa power supply. That is NOT there fault, however it cost me alot to ship it back and now it has been over a week since they RECIEVED my RMA with no update. I called and was promised an update, I have sent 2 e-mails and been totally ignored. I am considering disputing the charge on my credit card.

Check my thread here. :p Maybe someone can add something helpful, i've gotten enough ignorant angry flames

Not sure, but I know that all my orders have gone through fine. About 2 months ago I bought all the parts for my new system through them, all new, no problems whatsoever

Yep that seems the way it has ussually been. These new problems seem pretty recent and so far it seems as if newegg doesnt much care.

What's wrong with selling returned products are refurbs? A lot of places do that.

Because returned does not = refurbished.

Refurbished = a returned part that has been inspected and remanufactured to like new conditions

NOT some piece of crap that they just slapped a new shipping label on and mailed back out
