Hi,
I just purchased a Yamaha 8824 IDE to replace my Yamaha 4416S SCSI CD-RW.
I have problem burning at 8x, or even 4x from my CD-ROM which is Mitsumi 48x. It will always get buffer underrun. I've chaged the mode to PIO only, disabled Virus scan, made sure HD is defragged and stay away 10 feet from the computer while its burning.
I have no problem burning from this CD-ROM on my Yamaha 4416S. The system setup is the same, so hardware setup is not to blame.
Anyway, when I copied the whole CD to my HD and let my 8824 burn at 8x from HD, it works flawlessly.
My question is:
1. Do most people with 8x CD-RW experience problem copying directly from CD-ROM ?
2. Should I return this drive and exchange for Plextor 8/4/32 ?
3. Anyone experience the same problem burning from CD-ROM at 8x?
4. Am I stupid to trade my 4416S ?

The primary reason I chose this CD-RW was for its 8x re-write, but it is damn hard to look for 8x CD-RW ! ...
anyway, any thoughts is appreciated.
