yahoo has cleaned up the look of their page a lot, but i still prefer the simple interface of google.

I'm a Yahooligan... I like the fact that Yahoo! gives me the news... like Sports scores, and whatnot.. i don't get that right on the homepage of google... However, aesthetically I like Google better.

Shows up in both IE and FireFox for me. Maybe your ISP caches the more popular sites.

I believe that some ISP's cache popular sites to decrease their bandwidth usage. For example, Google's main portal hardly ever changes. If you were an ISP trying to cut down on costs, it would make sense to just cache their main page, and everytime a subscriber (you) tried to access Google, you'd just get the ISP's cached page. I've seen this stated in some Terms of Service agreements.
