YAGT: OMG I love guns

The p226 required more training than a striker fired handgun in my experience. That DA/sa transition is quite a learning curve trying to get the first two shots repeatedly consistent in rapid fire. Particularly the first 12lb DA pull is tough at first. My wife has a kimber super carry ultra and that single action trigger didn't require much training at all to make nice 7yd groups.

I would say that my s&w 442 remains the most difficult pistol to get good groups at 7yds. If I pull the trigger super slow (4 second trigger pull), it groups fine. If I try to rapid fire, looks like a shotgun hit the paper at twice the range lol. It is the only handgun I have tried that I haven't been able to fully tame yet. I notice that I jerk the trigger consistently on the 442 where the end of the barrel twitches to the right and up (jerks high 1:30 position). I attribute this to my finger not being strong enough to quickly accurate the trigger so it drifts from using the pad to using the first knuckle. The 11lb long double action pull is brutal.

I almost always shoot it SA. Since 95% of the time i dont carry it so when i do shoot it its loading the magazine up then racking the slide.

Im not a terrible shot. At 7 yards I am all within a 6" circle for 90% of shots (i always get a flyer or two lol). At the 15 yard Im definitely more like 50% inside the 6" circle but im still inside a person sized target for 90% (again i accept my opps and flyers). I mean thats still good enough for all practical purposes. but when someone else picks up a new ot them gun and is doing more like 3" groups at 7 yards its a bit of a wake up on where i need to spend more time practicing.

As for triggers...id say the worst for me is the sig mosquito. Just to make travel on it. Im going ot eventually get something else for a 22 pistol as i just cant shoot for crap with the mosquito other than general plinking. The best triggers i have to say are my S&W revolvers. The 19-3 SA is sweet. As is the 629 nice SA trigger. I prefer the 19-3 but its a lighter gun to begin with so that helps for me. But that gun has sentimental value to me so i dont shoot it very often at all. The 44mag...i want a model 29 blued cause i find that ot just be sexy and an awesome match to the 19-3...but i have a feeling it would become a safe queen too lol. But might get a nice model 29 and keep the 629 and have the best of both worlds 🙂

FUCKER LOOKS COMPLICATED!

Next time get an M1. Much easier. And quite stylish too.

Thats one of the better manuals youll see though. And its a Armor's Manual so does way more than you need to do. Actual cleaning is pretty dang simple. 1 pin, butt pad comes down, pull piston setup out, one more pin to clean bolt and firing pin, clean chamber/barrel, put it back together.

Thats twice as many steps as a Garand.

:colbert:

Bet the bolt is easier to disassemble. The M1/M14 bolts are a pain in the behind to take down, I finally just bought the tool from Fulton. It's still a pain...

The garand is a great gun (as is the 14) but it wasn't meant to be torn down on the battlefield.

I've recently gotten into the gun "hobby"

I have a SIG 1911 tacops and a SIG 556 Swat Patrol Rifle

I sort of regret the 556... wish I just went with a ar15 breed instead of a hybrid (maybe the 516)... its been a great gun though... no complaints after putting 1000 rounds through it

the 1911 is an awesome gun too... no complaints after 1500 rounds

here's a picture of the guns in a case I never use... haha... they are usually in my safe or gun bag / rifle bag for transport

Nice start! The Sig 1911's are nice! The 556 was the rifle i wanted for the longest time. Still kind of do. But ended up with a AR15 since it was cheaper. Kind of like it since i find i dont shoot 223/556 very often.

Which case is it? I just got a pelican 1750 for my bolt action right now. Might do a cutout for my 300blk and something else but who knows. I did get a vooddoo tactical 2 gun case which is pretty sweet so might not go for another hard case

Plano AW Scoped Rifle Case... solid case but heavy (guess they all are)

The ruger single ten is a sweet 22 revolver. The fiber sights work very well. You can also swap the cylinder for a 22 mag one if that is your cup of tea. Ruger sr22 and s&w m&p22 are both great semi in 22 and easy to clean/quick break down.

.22 Mag, Dirty Harry Jr. Lol.

Ive shot the M&P22 (dad has one). Not really wanting a 22 revolver for now. I need something to use suppressed 🙂 Its just another gun on my list of guns to buy lol

The sr22 comes with a threaded adapter now. I'm not sure if the m&p22 does...

the mp22 you just buy an adapter. its threaded from the factory but in a odd pattern. same sort of deal as the walther. Im actually leaning towards a ruger mkiii 22/45. Like all the upgrade options. but we will see

Went shooting yesterday with some friends. Discovered that the red dot on my AR is horribly off-zero. Also, looking down the sights when 4 lbs of tannerite goes off is pretty damn impressive.

Real question is...did you get to use your reloads?! How did they shoot for ya?

I have a black bull barrel and an Lite version of 22/45 mkiii. Both have mkii volquartsen trigger group that I installed in an afternoon. The mkii version allows for mags to drop freely in addition to a nice light trigger. There is a good YouTube video on the full strip of mkiii 22/45 and installation of trigger by some user with "rook"in their username. They can be dry fired no problem either since the bolt has a pin that prevents the hammer from striking the barrel.

I enjoy shooting the Lite much better esp. with bushnell trs25 red dot. Lite is also threaded for muzzle devices. I don't like the weight balance of the bull version.

The magazines are kind of a pain to load. I use a 1$ tiny spring clip from home depot (looks like a 1.5" super strong potato chip bag clip) to hold the follower a the bottom of the magazine then drop in the cartridges one at a time making sure they are oriented correctly.

Wow time warp of several hours...
