she is still in highschool(17) and im a freshman in college(18) and she asked if i wanted to go to prom this year with her, and i told her thats the last place on earth i wanted to be she got all upset at me and threw a hissy fit. is it wrong if i dont want to go back to my high school prom? 😕

I can understand not wanting to go back. However, this isn't some principles thing, where you think prom is a waste of time and money or immoral. This is just not wanting to go back to what you got to enjoy. Take the little shame if it's embarrassing to you.

If you've committed yourself to someone, then consideration is part of what you bring in. You should be considerate not to deprive her of what you got to enjoy and have no objection to as a matter of principle. Then again, if you're going to tell her implicitly that her interest matters not, maybe she'll go to the prom with someone who suits her and is considerate. :/
 
you're a selfish ass. Yes, proms aren't all that, even more so if you're in university. But judging from the attitude of the girl I went to my prom with, these things mean A LOT to girls...so just go.
 
NO. If she's a girl worth being with, then she'd understand why you don't want to go. If she's a girl not worth being with, get a last nookie in, and dump her off at her prom.

yeah, my senior prom wasnt exactly a nice night. but thats not the reason why i feel like i dont want to go. im not a "dance" guy, it costs a shatload of money(poor college student), i would feel incredibly akward, and i just flat out wouldnt have fun. i know im being selfish and i told her that i think im being selfish, then she tells me "no your not..." trying to give me the guilt trip. who knows, when it comes down to it ill probably go just so i dont piss her off. prom is the biggest over-hyped waste of money ever,

Ah! You have a point. There's a reason to go! I had forgotten about that incident where Pam, his ex, went to the prom with him and just made it a nightmare for him. She didn't say anything to him for the most part, danced with another guy, then dumped him. I remember that prom pic he had with words added to express his disappointment or anger. Ah, now I can see another reason you may be hesitant to go to the prom, Nick. However, you can turn it positive, and use this opportunity to have the fun you should have had in your first prom. Loosen up and have fun!

You won't be jilted there . . . don't worry! 😉 Your new gf sounds sweet, so make her day already!
