I know that.
But for a guy my age (23) and relative to those i date...there's a huge difference.
Should I hide or shouldn't I hide...clear question.

Seriously STFU... you only come off as a pretention jackass. 60K is out-of-college starting salary, so get over it. There is no money effect. Nada. Zip.

New York City does not even compare to southwestern Ontario. you don't know what you're talking about.

$60K is top-10 university grad anywhere in the us, not to mention that he's talking 60K canuck money.

It's just money. I'd dumb a guy in the blink of an eye if he got all snooty with me about how much he makes. So I would just not mention it unless someone asks. And just say it pays the bills. You don't have to give anyone a dollar amount.

Hell no don't hide it! Flaunt it! If asked how much your make, exagerate!
And make sure you have some gold/platinum colored credit cards to wave around.

And buy them poor girls some sammiches, and make sure and keep your pockets full of candy to throw at the peasant children, that impresses the ladies:)

But make sure to have plenty of protection, because the under privelaged womenz will all want to have your babies, plus you don't want any of those low income STDS

Two main types of people who are replying to this thread.

1. Those who bash the OP for bragging about what he makes, his conduct, etc

2. Those who bash the OP because they dont think what he makes is anything to brag about.

This post is to the people who fit into group 2.

IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU or YOUR FRIENDS or YOUR PARENTS or ANYONE ELSE MAKES. This is about what he makes IN RELATION to what others in the area makes.
That is the important part of the equation here. In areas where the average income is lower, everything costs less.. Walmart items, grocery store items, even nice items just cost less.

So its very possible (and highly likely), that this guy who has money to spend on the things he wants is buying things that would cost a lot more where many of us live.

So don't go around telling him he doesn't make squat, has a lower income than your friends in college, etc, because it doesn't matter. I'm sure there are parts of the world where what you and I make is also laughed at as being bottom of the barrel which is probably why we don't live there. In relation to what most others make in this area, he would be considered wealthy, and that is what he wants to hide from the gold diggers of the community while still living comfortably.

Edward Clark once said "The best way to realize the pleasure of feeling rich is to live in a smaller house than your means would entitle you to have." In this poster's case, he just lives in a town with a smaller income than his.

Just be yourself. Hone your decision making skills so you're not easily fooled by women.

You are correct.

If anyone has ever been on a military base and seen the living quarters of E-1s and E-2s... It's sad. They spend 95% of their money on crap.

You are missing a few digits there.

Keep in mind 99.9999999% of all NY real estate listings are outright lies, because if they listed what is really available, noone would bother to look.

The REAL rates are around $20/sq. ft./month.

Holy crap. I pay $1.14/ft²/mo in Kingston, NY and I feel like I'm getting ripped off.

WTH would you ever tell a woman what you make?

That's just asking for trouble. Plus it's rude.
I don't tell them what I make...
It's obvious that I'm well off with $5k living room furniture, 42" plasma, new computer, new car, nice diningroom and bedroom set.

It's actually quite hard to hide what I make...
The average income here is $30k per person (not household), I'm at $62k and likely will be at high 60's in Feb.

I like to pat myself on the back sometimes and this results in an obvious sign of wealth in a poorer community.
That's not wealth....sorry. With that little bit of difference, I wouldn't even sweat it.......
Where did I say wealth...all I said was it was clear I'm quite well off relative to those I'd be dating.

I think you're looking to flaunt your e-penis, until you realized you couldn't do so with a bunch of much wealthier members responding. Who even considers that? You're middle class, and the rest of your town seems it would be for the most part if it's families.

Stunt you have given me pretty good advice in my other threads so I will say nothing right now :)
No problem :)

I know this thread sounds bad...but it's a legitimate concern when you are in a community full of people who are more than willing to find a guy they can live off. Also if they know you can pay child support, they will do what they can to get that out of you.

Not saying all the women are like this, but it's there.

What? Do you live in a cage? If you're in some small town what does it take to go meet people in a city fifteen minutes to a half an hour away?

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but yes, that is close to the truth, at least for a walk-in closet.

My fiance's apartment does not actually have any closets, so she pays a separate rent on a storage closet in the hallway outside the apartment. Not $2000/month because it is only around 3 feet by 2 feet, but still over $100/month for 6 square feet.

Youre full of it. Youre saying that a 600 sq ft apt is $12,000 per month?! Ha. Yea, right.

just bum around in jeans, boots, and t-shirts.

Nobody will assume you're making bank if there aren't any immediate visual cues.

60K is not something worth hiding. Just use discretion and don't flaunt your income and you should be fine. For all they know you could be deep in credit card debt (Damn you Rossman and Black Friday deals coming up) :D
