YAGT (Gun) - Micro 380 Owners come on in.

I spent most of yesterday at the local gun club.

I shot a AK-47 (my brother in laws) for a few dozen rounds. Holy shit was that mofo loud! Loudest gun in the whole place. Shot my 12g shotgun with a pistol grip for the fist time, my hand is really sore where the pistol grip sat while holding it.

I bought a Ruger LCP (micro 380) and put a box of rounds through it while there. Fired off my 9mm and .357 a few times also.

I was wondering who else has a micro 380 and if you found what's the best way to carry it.

I bought a Uncle Mike's pocket holster but am also considering getting something else.

I'm also looking at a possible mag extender by 1 round just to help me get another finger or two on it.

My brother in law just bought the Taurus 380 also and I can't believe how many times that thing either jammed, or wouldn't load the last round. The Ruger I got, out of the box fired every round without fail.

Here's the gun I bought http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/rws53/guns/RugerLCP2.jpg

The best way to carry a .380 is in your girlfriends hand bag. If you're actually carrying for self-defense, buy a mans gun. And if you're carrying because you think it makes you look cool, but a heterosexual caliber.

If your hand is sore from shooting a pistol grip shotgun that's natures way of telling you you're holding it wrong. Take the brunt of the recoil on your shoulder.

Having been researching for a shotgun lately, I have seen a lot of people mention this. Are you disappointed that you got the pistol grip over the full stock?

I have been thinking that this Remington is a decent compromise.

I don't regret it at all since it's for home defense. If I were doing anything else with it then I'd be keeping the stock butt on it.

I put 2 dozen rounds through it in a row, which is why my hand hurts now.

There's really no way to absorb the shock other than in the hand.

I have a Mossberg FWIW.

A home defense shotgun should never have a pistol grip, imo. Too hard to control the gun compared to a standard stock.

why not get a stock with a pistol grip and adjustable stock or fixed stock, like on an ar-15? would be better than just the pistol grip only.

Came with it.

But after shooting it I'd love a foldout stock butt with pistol grip set up.

But really, it'll be pretty infrequent that I'll use it since it's a shorter barrel and not good for much other than home defense.

Yep, can't have a gun post without at least a few coming out of the woodwork to post an opinion that wasn't asked for in the OP. Ah well, makes for some light entertainment...

I have the Ruger .380, and I carry it quite a bit. It's great when you don't want something heavy or bulky.

I can put 12 rounds of hollow point down range pretty quick with it and you dont want that in your face.

I carry with a pocket holster that has some sticky stuff on the outside so when you pull the gun out the holster stays.

Don't listen to other people, I love the Ruger and the LCP is a great weapon. I also have the 870 Remington with AR15 stock with pistol grip. It's a great weapon and 1000x better than standard stock.

With the ruger lcp any iwb holster will make it invisible. Just pick one up. My wife loves her lcp. I can't stand the trigger on it.

I'm kind of leaning towards a wallet holster now that I've seen some videos of them in use.

Looks like a nice way to carry.

As long as you can wear it comfortably AND still pull it without fumbling then I say go for it. Personally I can't use a pocket or wallet carry. To get a smooth draw I need a holster on my hip/iwb.

In all seriousness, 380 is not strong enough for personal defense. If you are wearing clothes (say for work) that don't allow for anything better, then fine. Otherwise I wouldn't go below 9mm.

The pow'r ball loads are your best bet for 380.

While it may be true that .380ACP is not ideal for a carry weapon, it isn't like it is totally useless. I have been known to carry a Colt Government Model in .380ACP from time to time, and wouldn't hesitate to do so again if it was the only viable option.

Most self defense engagements with firearms do not end in death. They end in a gunshot that causes the perp to flee.

I for one do not want to be shot. Be it 22, 380 or 45.

In the winter I carry mine in a pocket holster in my jacket vest pocket. Easy to draw and always on me when I need it.

In the summer I use either the pocket holster or an uncle mike's ankle holster. Very comfortable and concealable and you don't lose your pocket. I might try to find a regular IWB holster for it too eventually.

.380 in my pocket > your 1911 left at home because you didn't feel like lugging it for a quick errand.
