I also have a Ruger LCP and so far I've only bought a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster and an extra magazine.

I'm still searching for good holsters/accessories though. Hard to find ammo too, still struggling to find that.

I bought the LCP because I don't feel like carrying my glock around all the time, especially in the summer when it's hot. I like to dress as cool as possible and it's hard to conceal a weapon that way. With the LCP it can go right in my pocket and I never even notice it.

I was doing 25 feet with it last weekend with no issue.

Plinking paper targets at 25' and using it in self defense when your life depends on it are two completely different things.

That said, you'll probably lug this lightweight nearly useless gun around for a few years and then it will find its way into a drawer or, hopefully, a gun safe where it remains unused for many years...like most guns.

My brother in law just bought the Taurus 380 also and I can't believe how many times that thing either jammed, or wouldn't load the last round. The Ruger I got, out of the box fired every round without fail.

what ammo?

my taurus wouldnt load any of the extremely steep angled JHP's w/o jamming

but the smaller stuff and white box winchester would work like a charm

I have been looking at picking up an LCP for the summer. My typical off duty carry is a Glock 27 but in the summer it can be a bit tough to conceal in light clothing. No the .380 is not a man stopper but is a very good "get off me" gun. For CCW that is what you need, the man stopper is what you need at the house.

I can take my wife's 380 out and point it down range, close my eyes and hit a man sized paper target in the chest at 25 feet. If you can't do that, you should not be owning a firearm.

Why so much hate on the .380? I don't get it.

My hate on it isn't so much stopping power, it is the useless sights and the small frame. It just doesn't give you much to work with. That and your primary...hell, your only use is going to be target shooting and possibly carrying it around as a useless hunk of metal for the next 4-5 years...or 10 years if you're really pathetic, until you grow up and realize that you're not John Wayne or Dirty Harry and your life isn't a Hollywood movie.

Just buy the biggest hand cannon you want, or the handgun with the longest barrel that gives the biggest bang at the shooting range...because that's what really matters.

Some winchesters. Some reloads. Some remington hollow points. All same amount of jamming and not loading the last round.

He actually called taurus today about it and they offered for him to send it in but the 4 to 5 week turnaround on it kind of sucks.

Search slickdeals for 380 - we just ordered 6 boxes for $99.xx shipped.

Hmm, I have yet to have anyone tell me that my gun is a "useless hunk of metal".

If you get a Crimson Trace grip for that 380 it will be awesome. I've seen them before and they made me envious.

The PMC ammo from SGCUSA? Looks like I might order about 6 boxes as well. I had some ammo on backorder from cabelas which was more expensive than this.

I'm just saying that most people will never use a gun in self defense. Might as well buy a gun you want to shoot and is accurate rather than one that is small, difficult to shoot accurately, and will likely never be used for its intended purpose.

I have a better idea. buy both. Just because you don't see yourself ever needing a handgun in self defense doesn't mean no one else will. Quit hatin.

Picked an LCP up a few weeks ago. Love it. Gonna add a few things to it eventually, but money's a bit tight at the moment.

A .380 intended purpose is to fend off a mugger, you don't need sights at all for that. You aren't trying to get a head shot in a hostage situation with these things. This gun has a purpose, go beyond that and their are certainly better option. For a pocket gun they are pretty much the best choice.

I've owned guns like that. They are pretty much worthless at the range and difficult to shoot accurately...in fact, I still own one (a Beretta Tomcat). I never shoot it anymore...it just sits in my gun safe. I've also owned a S&W .38 Airweight and that thing was just brutal to shoot especially with +P ammo. I think it was worse than my .44 Magnum is in fact (then again, that has an 8" barrel-now that's a fun gun that I have no regret buying!).

Just speaking from experience.
