No one is trying to say you shouldn't want to. Some are just trying to encourage you do work at it by respectable means.

How's this maybe...you supply the friendship and eventually she realizes that she would rather be with someone who shows her the respect she deserves. Eventually it works into a more than friends relationship. After all, a spouse is usually the best friend too.

getting laid is not everything but this thread is about a guy that would have loved to be getting laid by this hot girl or perhaps another one that comes along and you were not encouraging him in any case. This wasn't a 'OMGSATANISTEMPTINGMEWITHSEXHOWCANIABSTAIN' thread.

Oh, I agree.. I just didn't want to get into a puritanical debate... And my ex, who I went out with for 6 and a half bloody years, spent a year together just as friends. So I know it DOES happen.. it's just a little frustrating 😉

It's only technically "cheating", if she does something with a guy other than her "current" BF, and then goes back to him, and never officially broke it off. However, it's entirely possible that she's essentially broken up with her current BF in her mind (so from her POV it's not cheating at all), she just hasn't informed him of that fact yet, because she's been holding off on doing so until she can manage to line up another "steady" in the meantime. Immature of her? Sure. But it happens all of the time, I've seen it. Will the (now prior) BF consider it "cheating", and take issue with the current guy? Likely, since he was kept out of the loop.

But I've seen women, that actually want the "new guy" to have a forcible confrontation with their "ex", to "claim" them from that ex. And if the new guy refuses to take a stand/avoid the confrontation, then she decides that the new guy isn't worth it, so she goes back to her ex, even if he is abusive or treats her poorly, because the new guy is "weak" and at least her ex is "strong", even if he is an abusive a-ho. (IMHO, she doesn't see the new guy as "honorable" at all, in holding off until she breaks it off with the ex herself. In fact, she completely lies to herself, feeling that it should be the man's place to "claim" her from her ex, and not her place to break it off with her ex.) Sorry if that offends anyone's theoretical geek view of the world, but all of these guys that say to stay away until she breaks it off - no wonder some geeks don't get women - they spend their time in a theoretical world, ignoring the real one. I know that I've done that all too much myself, and speaking as one that attempted (foolishly!) to be "honorable" - that's complete bull, and I apparently missed out on a wealth of potential opportunities because of that stance. The truth is, that's just a figment of the male mind, women don't care. All they care about, is if you give them what they want, or not. If you do, they want you. If you don't, they dont. That's the bottom line, really. Everything else on the subject is philisophical bull.

I hear you man. I used to be like you until I realized unless I changed I was gonna end up with 1000 girlfriends and not be fvcking any of them. I decided to change and run the risk of being called an asshole while getting laid way more frequently.

You need to know she could have called a girlfriend if she just wanted a shoulder to cry on...she called you cuz there was an uhhh.....alterior motive.

On top of that she has her whole family there to mourne the loss of her mom. Why do you think she even picked up the phone while she was pouring tears in a hysteric fit? There a couple of reasons, but mostly they point towards her seeking a superman with a large dongle....😉

As much as I generally agree with you on the subject Nik, I have to disagree with you here. I don't know about innocence, but he's surely not guilty. She's responsible on her end for failing to hold up to whatever commitment she made with whomever. He's not responsible for her behavior. He's only responsible for commitments he makes. I think it's time to drop the denial and realize that your ex was completely responsible for her action. And trust me, holding grudges for too long is punishing yourself. Karma will find its way--unless she changes her entire behavior. Karma happens not because of a supernatural force but because of the very conduct of the person. It's a natural law, as far as I'm concerned. The very behavior that drove her to cheat on you is going to attract her to someone who's of her calibre or worse. And she'll get it all back.... Just sit back, take off the bitterness, grudges and watch it happen when you weren't expecting. Enjoy yourself.

This isn't even a question of "her point of view". If they are dating, and she's with another guy, she's cheating, whether or not she's "essentially broken up with him in her mind":roll:
