I bought a Springfield Armory M1a National Match almost a year ago, and since then I have just been using the iron sights. Today I finally sprung for some good glass to mount on the rifle.

The scope is a Leupold Mk 4 LR/T 4.5-14x50mm tactical scope. It has a mil-dot reticle, external adjustments, and a side focus. This is hands down the best scope I now own, but I got a good price (but the price was still painful). swfa.com sells this scope for $1099, but I was able to pick it up locally brand new for $979. I also picked up the Leupold rings, and the cheapo mount up for another $130.

I went with the cheap m1a mount mostly because the good ones are out of stock, and because the scope took up the vast majority of the money I saved for that project (the good mounts are around $250 alone). This mount is a very close copy of a known good m1a mount, the ARMS #18. I used a liberal amount of loctite on all of the screws, so hopefully it wont give me a problem.

I can't wait to take it out this weekend and get the scope sighted in. :D

I always use the red-dot sight on my M16 in COD4.

Thanks.

The wood stock is actually the factory stock. I got the rifle new last march, but I have not shot it much other than at the range. The rifle itself probably has less than 100 rounds shot through it. Now that I have good glass on it it will be getting a lot more range time though.

The next thing I need to get for it is a good removable cheek pad to raise the stock a little bit. The scope is mounted high enough that I need a good inch lift to get a good cheekweld.

When I first bought the rifle there was a big tag attached to the trigger guard that said "NOT LEGAL IN CALIFORNIA."

Seeing that tag made the purchase all the more sweeter. :p

nice setup. i like the ballistics of the M1A but hate the weight. It's tempting though

if you like tweaking the firearms, check out this site AR15; it's geared more toward the AR15 platform, but it also has the M1A section (look under equipment exchange). I'm in the middle of building an M4 from the ground up, and use the AR15 site alot along with this one BravoArms.

always nice to run into another shooter. good luck with the site in.

I have been a member of ar15.com for a while, thanks for the tip though.

I mostly just go over there to browse the industry section and make the occasional EE purchase.
